you'll be humming these years from now..........2006-05-22

Netherlands has been on my "desert island" list since it came out. in my opinion, these are some of the sappiest lyrics ever written, over-orchestrated, and yet somehow it not only all works, it's divine. i can't (and won't :-) tell you in how many ways this album changed my life. i got it shortly after it came out, and i still have the original scratchy vinyl!

Souveniers is my first DF album. after all, look at the cover shot and if you are a woman -- well, it's all over. 30 odd years later and still, hummin' away... "down in the canyon, the smoke starts to rise...".

DF started me on my trek to my real home, Colorado, so many, many years ago. sooner or later i will get there. not too many things have "changed" my life, but Dan Fogelburg did in ways never intended, i am sure!

Heartbreak Heaven.......2003-12-03

I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for heartbreak songs and Dan's one of the best ever at creating them. Especially when it comes to singing about the one who "got away." These three cds are also excellent examples of his excellent musicianship, production and songwriting, as well. So if you are suffering from the heartache of a lost relationship and you've tired of Joni Mitchell's "Blue" and Jackson Browne's "Late for the Sky" cds here is superb solace and shared misery on the same level. Dan was in his prime during this era of his career and sadly, after the "Innocent Age" lp, he never regained this level of quality again.

I began to follow Dan's carrer in a junior college town back in the seventies. I thougt that he was just the coolest musician around becaus he was so enormoulsy talented; playing many of the instruments on the album I was looking at buying (Home Free). I bought the tape of it back then and was really surprised that he owned such wonderful dual abilities in both the areas of music and lyrics. Today he remains my favourite musician to listen too and also see live. When someday up the road there is an honest discussion of Royalty among the American musical class it will be far and away Dan Fogelberg at the top of the class. From the genres of country, blues, pop, and jazz, I cannot help but congratulate mysef on the honor of listening to his music by way of concerts and purchasing his musical artistry.
