Customer Reviews:
A black/death metal masterpiece!.......2007-01-09
I first heard of this band back in 2003 on Comcast's digital music channel...the metal one...that channel and I were best friends for a long time. Anyways, the first song I heard was "Outlined in Black," and I kept a tab of every song and band that caught my attention, and boy these guys sure did. I was lucky enough to find this album at my local music store...after looking for a few months...I bought it up right away. I was not disappointed and either will you if you decide to buy it as well. This album is pure unadulterated blackened death metal with thrash thrown in for good measure. Any fan of heavy music will love this album. Amazing guitars, amazing vocals, amazing drums, amazing bass, and when you put all these together with crisp clear production, what you've got is one hell of a metal album. This is a good album to drive fast to as well...So pick it up and blast it!
Excellent Musicianship, Fast, Faster and Fastest.......2005-10-27
I hardly know where to start, Incredible tightness, well produced, A clean mix. Pulsating, heavy fast Music. NONE OF THE TRACKS LET UP! A musician myself, I can really appreciate this CD. They play so well. There new CD is about to be released, I can't imagine it being better.
Ghouls Of Grandeur.......2005-08-25
I was incredibly fortunate to find this at my local record store. I've always been a huge Immortal fan and I wanted to see what Horgh was up to, so I decided to purchase this the moment I laid eyes upon it.
This is relentless metal at it's finest. There isn't too much innovation here, but that's not what this project is about. Grimfist is about combining some great talents to create an album as brutal as possible. The sound is so incredibly thick and heavy, you will not believe that there are only people in this band. The vocals are screamed, but in one song there is a line of clean vocals. Don't let the clean vocals turn you off. They aren't bad, and by the time you notice them, they are already gone. The screamed vocals on the other are as brutal as possible. There are some dubs with high pitched screaming and low pitched growling as well, which adds greatly to the brutality of this record. The guitar work is fast. Really fast and really heavy. The drums are incredible. If you've ever heard any of Horgh's work, you'll know what I'm talking about. Fast rolls, double bass, you name it, it's there.
With all of that said, I must now say that if you are looking for a fast, relentless, in-your-face metal album, look no further than Grimfist's "Ghouls Of Grandeur."
BRUTAL!!!!!.......2005-06-29
That one word up top can describe this album and I'll say it again: BRUTAL! Norway's Grimfist is one of the heaviest bands out there and you should support them by buying this record. You like thrash? You got it! You like death? You got it! You like a little black metal too? You got it! Every type of metal you can think of is on this record. Musically, this band sounds like a cross between Lamb of God during their Burn the Priest days meets Immortal (btw, their drummer plays on here) with almost Judas Priest-like solos for good measure. This ain't no Korn or Disturbed record folks. This is extreme music for extreme people. The vocalist is pretty impressive. He can from ear-piercing highs to low growls and even lets out some clean power metal vocals ("A World of Wrath"). The guitars are lighting fast and Horgh (Immortal) puts on a drum clinic with his fast footing and devestating blast beats. Every song on here is good, but my favorite is probably "Mosh-Pit Underground" If your fan of real metal, you should pick up this album. If your favorite band is Disturbed, stay away from this release. You might get hurt!
