Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The Real Thing.......2003-12-20

I just have to rebut the orangeduke. Poseurs?! The Lazy Cowgirls? You're talking out your ass, bub. You can't please all of the people all of the time, but calling the Cowgirls (especially the original line-up, in blazing form here) poseurs? They've been riding this horse since the early '80s! This is my favorite Cowgirls LP; it stands in marked contrast to their 1987 Restless debut, which is slightly tamer than their other output. Feral power chords and sneering I-Been-Around vocals & lyrics. Like a "mature" DMZ, or an American (very heartland) take on the early Saints. This record's getting a 4 instead of a 5 because of lack of variety -- it's power chords for breakfast lunch & dinner. But if I've had enuf coffee, it's the place to be. This version of the band moved from Vincennes, Indiana to LA and made (I believe) 4 LPs before the bassist & drummer split off. Eventually the original band was stripped til only singer Pat Todd remained. To me, this original line-up IS the Lazy Cowgirls, and How It Looks - How It Is is their finest moment; for a more kind of FM-radio version, check out their self-titled LP.
