Customer Reviews:
the Simpsons sing the blue.......2006-11-22
My english is very basic, but what I think this is the better combination...Simpsons and blues...great songs !!!
Can't remember any great tittle........2006-05-29
I'm probably the biggest Simpson fan in my town (Belgrade - Serbia),that's the reason I bought this album. I got it about two years ago,and I can still listen to it. This album is funny, but still there's a harmony in songs. I'll rate every single track:
1. Do the Bartman - They made a video for this song. Funny track, great for rap fans. 4/5
2. School day - Good cover. Very enjoyable song. 4/5
3. Born under a bad sign - One of my favorites. 5/5
4. Moanin' Lisa blues - This song appeared in show, actually. Good, but not that great. 3/5
5. Deep deep trouble - First time I heard it,I was impressed. But it became a bit boring. 4/5
6. God bless the child - Lisa's voice is excellent here. I also like the apearence of Bleeding gums Murphy. 5/5
7. I love to see you smile - A romantic track. Marge's bad voice brought this song down a bit. 4/5
8. Springfield soul stew - This is interesting. I love the way they ended this song - with Lisa on sax! 5/5
9. Look at all those idiots - My favorite track! Hilarious lyrics and an amazing guitar solo. 5/5
10. Sibling rivalry - Great way to end this album. A song by Bart and Lisa, funny lyrics here. 5/5
I recomend this to everyone who likes "The Simpsons".
Great CD.
For simpsons fans.......2006-02-02
The simpsons is one of the most famous t.v shows ever they released tons of stuff, dvds and more but they also made music albums and this was their first one they did.`the simpsons sing the blues`was released in 1990 at the time of the first season.
The simpsons arent really talented singers but they did put on a nice effort with this c.d it would be a comedy -funny music style this isnt music that are hits but i think some songs should be heared like m.r burns`s `look at all those idiots`some funny quotes are there for all lenght of the c.d.
Simpsons fans would love to hear bart`s song like`do the bartman`and some other songs. If you are a simpson fan you would might like their music or at least find it funny. The c.d is actually cheap i bought it for 10 bucks like 6 years ago.I dont think that the title matches the album`s songs its mixed songs here.
Fans of the simpsons might want to check it out ,a pretty old release but still good. While i am not a fan of this kind of music i think its a nice effort with some things to check out i recomend it to simpson fans and i also recomend `songs in the key of springfield`something like that to the fans.
i am not really a fan of this kind of music but as a simpson fan i had to like it.
NICE, THIS STILL EXISTS!.......2005-09-20
My best friend when I was six years old got this CD and I can remember being pissed off cuz I didn't.
THE SIMPSONS, which have been a staple in my youth, and basically my whole life as I can remember, released this pretty early on. I believe the video for DO THE BARTMAN premeired the night they first aired the MICHAL JACKSON episode. (yeah, a long time ago, like fifteen years)
GREAT CONCEPT, aside from Barts two old school rap cuts DO THE BARTMAN and DEEP DEEP TROUBLE the rest really is THE SIMPSONS singing the blues.
SCHOOL DAYS with BUSTER POINDEXTER
BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN with STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK HOMER hell yeah
MOANIN LISA BLUES well, I cant stand LISA but whatever.
GOD BLESS THE CHILD seriously enough with LISA. She reminds me of my babys mama, and a cartoon charecter on CD should not make me this upset.
SPRINGFEILD SOUL STEW is marge jammin out.
LOOK AT ALL THOSE IDIOTS is the best track, MR BURNS on vocals and SMITHERS wailing on guitar.
SHOULD YOU BUY THIS ALBUM? probably not. I haven't heard it in fifteen years so I don't even really know how I feel about it. I LOVED IT WHEN I WAS A KID, if you have little kids I bet its a winner and you can get it used for a BUCK. The Simpsons are still as popular as ever so I don't see why not. I think I'm gonna do it.
Dated, but still amazing after all these years.......2005-02-05
As huge as a "Simpsons" fan as I am, I had gone for years without owning the notorious "Sing the Blues" album. I had heard of it many times and knew I must own it. I finally got it and it is a true classic. An album like this should be horrendous and a cash-in on a (then-new; fascinating to think about that now) show, but the album is a masterpiece. It's very dated, and obviously recorded at the height of Bartmania, before there were loyal geeks like myself to consider the show a masterpiece and worship Matt Groening, but the album is GOOD, unlike The Yellow Album. This demands a track-by track analysis, so, without further ado:
1. Do The Bartman - This track was the classic, hit single that will live for years in the minds of "Simpsons" fans and non-fans alike. It's very dated, but VERY fun, and written by Michael Jackson before he became the freak he is today.
2. School Day - A weak track, but a good Chuck Berry cover. Nothing outstanding or unusual. Solid.
3. Born Under A Bad Sign - Yes! The album's second true masterpiece. Homer's hilarious blues parody ranks up there with Weird Al's "Generic Blues" as one of the greatest examples of blues mockery in history.
