Album Description
Re-issue features one bonus track. Following on from the success of her Brit nominated album Hometime (2002), Alison Moyet releases Voice. Produced and arranged by Academy Award winner Anne Dudley, this album is certain to become an all-time classic. It is a collection of songs by other composers - a radical diversion for Moyet who has chosen in this instance to concentrate on her instrument alone. The album includes standards such as "The Man I Love", "Cry Me a River" and Michel Legrand's "Windmills of Your Mind". Voice further showcases Moyet's tone and phrasing, her eclectic tastes, and above all--her voice at its best. 12 tracks in total. Sanctuary. 2004.

5 + Stars from the ULTIMATE Critic...........2005-08-28
Never before has there been an artist to grace the scene and do it in style like Moyet. She shows and performs ever so gracefully, as a natural. Her vocal abilities are that of some of the greatest singers of all time. Why in America is she not recognized as much as trendy pop-icons? Probably because her style and class is too much to deal with, when what the record companies really want is sex, subsidy, and a flexible 17 year old barbie doll. Do we need another? ...Well, Alison is none of those, THANK GOD! Here's where the real talent is.
Glossy, smooth and rich, this mellow, chill-out work is definitely a must for the wind-down. "Voice" is that. A compilation of standards (and some non-standards) is quite a package to behold. You know when you hear the commencement of Alison's breathtaking performance of "Windmills Of Your Mind".
Crystal clear vocals and an orchestra that are a great compliment to her vocals that don't take them over (as often vocalists will do to cover their shortcomings).
It is amazing to me that this album was not the classic album of 2004, with its smooth, full, and satisfying path that it leads you down.
The songlist for this album has been wisely chosen, as it is not boring to sit through. With the medium-ranged "Windmills", then to the fast beat "Wraggle-Taggle Gypsies" in the middle to keep your attention, and then the closing finalé wraps up with the aluring "Bye Bye Blackbird" and a crecendo into "Alfie" (title song from the movie of the same name) that seems a better orchestrated package than the final product that appeared in the movie.
By the time you conclude this rich and chocolatey gem, you'll be relaxed.
Spine tingling.......2005-08-11
Certain albums provide the perfect accompaniment to certain times of the day- ergo the appearance of something called `Supper Jazz". And `Voice'? Voice is an album for the small hours, a post dinner party time when you're cuddled up with the one you love on the sofa picking the bits of gristle from between your teeth. It's a gorgeous, smoky collection of torch songs and standards, all hand picked to show off Moyet's beautiful voice. And what a voice it is- at once fragile and immensely strong, and always wonderfully emotive. Her take on Purcell's majestic `Dido's Lament' is spinechilling in its magnificence. Excellent.
