Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The art of sonic air manipulation.......2002-09-28

Jucifer move the air. If you have ever seen them live you know what I mean. Capturing thier live intensity with any media seems doomed from the get go, but this record comes close. It is rare that such a monstrous and bottom heavy guitar tone can have so much personality and emotion. The drumming is equally as crushing, but leaves room for the tunes to breathe instead of creating a wall of noise. Heaviness is often made heavier by the use of restraint at just the right times. The sequence and flow of the record is perfect, almost as if it were intended to be one piece. Jucifer have been compared to a lot of bands in reiviews and that's okay, because most folks need some reference point when plunking down thier hard earned cash to buy a CD. The fact of the matter is they stand alone. See them live and you may at first be repulsed as you feel your bowels churn from the sound that makes the you feel like you are at the end of the world and by the conclusion of the show, on top of the world.
Do not judge the rest of this remarkable band's work by this review as each album is it's own. The others incorporate subtle use of turntable scratches, tons of different guitar sounds, and other nuances that creep up upon repeated listen. The other albums will knock you senseless and then caress you before doing it again. The lambs Ep will push you in the pool and throw you both ends of the rope.
