Sass Jordan's third album continues in the vein begun on Racine; this is roots rock with teeth. "High Road Easy" received considerable radio airplay, and the other rockers on the album are similar-catchy with an edge, showcasing Jordan's gut-deep voice. As on Racine, the up-tempo stuff works the best: "Damaged", "High Road Easy", "Ugly" (featuring a guest appearance from George Clinton), "Honey", and "Wish". Of the slower songs, "I'm Not" and "Give" are excellent, though "Breakin'" is an acquired taste. Jordan's got way more attitude and a much stronger voice than most singer-songwriters, and both are shown to their best advantage on Rats. -- Genevieve Williams

5 out of 5 stars Sun's Gonna Rise!.......2006-05-24

This is 12 songs that grabs you by the neck and won't let you go!! Her voice is out of this world. There is such a mix of styles on this CD. I am not one to get into a full CDs. There are always those one or two filler tracks. This Sass Jordan CD is 100% pure rock! I can't think of many CDs from 1994 that are still being played all the time, in my home, in 2006! Keep up the great work Sass!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Sass needs to get this on U.S. radio stations!.......2005-04-13

I had never heard of Sass, when I bought this CD at a garage sale. I think that was back in 1993. When I first listened to it, I was blown away. And, to this day, I still keep that CD in the 5-disc changer of my car. I will never tire of listening to it. I don't understand why I have never heard her songs on the radio. Everyone who has heard my Rats CD, has raved about how good she and her music are! Sass really needs to come to the United States one of these days, and re-release this album! I think that the people here would welcome her old stuff , as "new and edgy". To me, it is just as cutting-edge today, as when I first heard it. Us 30-somethings are ready for some new-old ROCK! I think she could be just the one to give us that too. She would most certainly be the next Superstar.

5 out of 5 stars A vastly underrated artist.......2004-11-29

If there was one artist I could think of that really deserved recognization in music but never got it...Sass Jordan would be that artist. Imagine if Janis Joplin had survived drug overdose, she would sound like Sass Jordan. I loved Sass' first album "Racine". It was a good mix of blues and hard rock. Her second album "Rats" was no sophomore jinx. How can it with the killer blues/rock opener "Damaged"? What really struck me is Sass' attitude. She didn't write no wimpy pop song like a lot of singer/songwriters do nowadays. Her music had a lot of attitude. Her vocal stylings reminded me of Shannon Curfman but older. Her vocals are gritty and rough around the edges. Even the slower songs on the album still maintained the same attitude that I hear on the faster, more uptempo songs. Other than "Damaged", my personal favorite songs on the album has to be "I'm Not" (I felt like I could relate to the lyrics), "Ugly" (w/George Clinto), and "Wish". It is too bad that the only Canadians that got recognition in the states has been all terrible 'artists' (i.e Bryan Adams and Celine Dion). Sass Jordan was the best thing to come out of the north.

5 out of 5 stars Extraordinary.......2003-12-25

Nobody comes close to Sass. There is no comparison. Plug this cd in and turn it all the way up. You better buy two copies, because you will wear the first one out.
