Customer Reviews:
Buy this in spite of the other reviewers.......2006-03-27
The mutants who have reviewed this album may not be able to spell or put together even a mildly coherent sentence, but they are right about one thing: Danzig 4 is great. It is easily his best effort since his solo debut. Unfortunately, everything after is disposable.
1994 brought us farther into the world of Danzig.......2006-02-14
Danzig seemed to move a bit beyond the "doom blues" songs we were used to in past efforts and forged forward on this "Danzig 4" album with a frenzied, frantic upgrade of quicker paced songs like "Brand new god". Danzigs vocals are as usual, a baritone crooning and crying of sorts, but quickly give way to the rest of the bands musicianship. Diversity again is the strength for this band, but the one song that absolutely steals the show on this one is "Can't Speak". Not since Metallica's commercial breakthrough with "One" has a dark, slow song of doom been so moving and strong. "Can't Speak" has a great slow beat with an "in and out" reverb sound that later gets some added flange from the guitarists. The impending organ sounding theme is one of the best I've ever heard of any song by the band. It's message is just as powerful, proving again that the bands songwriting has not given way to any pressure for success but the one they put on themselves to strive to create different, eccentric dark themed music.
"Until you call on the Dark" and "Dominion" are tracks that shouldn't be overlooked, and have a more general, signature sound that we've seen before from Mr. Danzig and his crew. Overall, four is just as good as the first three in my humble opinion.
THE LAST DANZIG ALBUM BEFORE HE STARTED TO SUCKED!!.......2005-10-23
THAT SIMPLE!!
4 is how ever more like the first album! and is prob tied to the first as being my fave!!
YOU WILL NEVER HEAR MUSIC THIS DEPRESSING AGAIN!! THIS IS NOT DOOM METAL..BUT THESE SONG's MANAGE TO MAKE DOOM SOUND HAPPY!! I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT DANZIG..BUT HE IS ''EVIL'' haha!
Like for example ''LET IT BE CAPTURED'' this is the most depressing thing EVER!!! his voice sound's like the call's of a million dying human's..very hard to listen to this with out almost crying!! AND THAT SAY's IT ALL!!!!!
Sad thing is...this is the last DANZIG album ..well what I consider DANZIG!! a DANZIG without John Christ..sucks!!
SO there ya have it all 4!!!!! BUY THESE OR YOU SUCK AT LIFE!!!!
''LET IT BE CAPTURED''
The only Danzig album I have brought.......2004-12-20
Danzig 4 is the only Danzig album I have brought, so I really cannot compare it to their previous albums or their newer albums. The reason I picked up Danzig 4 was for the track Cantspeak, as I heard the track played on MTV's Head bangers Ball years ago, and seeing the video and hearing the sound made me want to go out a buy it.
Other tracks on the album that stand out are Dominion, I don't mind the pain. Some of the tracks are slow, too slow, I prefer faster music.
There's a thing that makes me laugh with the album and that's a photograph in the booklet that comes with Danzig 4. The photo shows what looks like a US president (Clinton?) shaking hands with a gun carrying cop, there's a 2nd cop and what looks like to body guards/FBI agents. Behind this there's the 4 band members from Danzig standing in upright coffin, presumably they've just been shot (what's all that about?) and the thing that makes me laugh is the size of the coffins themselves, they are huge, you could fit 2 people in each one of them, not exactly made to measure.
Maybe I should pick up their first 3 albums?
