Album Description
The Passion: A Rock Opera is a musical retelling of the last hours of Jesus, beginning with the Last Supper. It is an attempt to translate - or perhaps paraphrase - the gospels in the language of theatre and music. Drawn from the gospel narratives, the lyrics are at an attempt to tell the story of a very personal God. These words are married to the contemporary language of rock music. This is essentially a band recording centering on the power and vocabulary of guitar, bass and drums (with a few flirtations with other genres). The Passion is a throwback to the greatest of 1970's rock (i.e. The Who, Led Zeppelin) with an ear for contemporary innovators like Radiohead, Led Zepplin and Daniel Amos.
Customer Reviews:
Beth's Review.......2004-08-20
This is nothing short of a work of art. For those of you (who like me) have grown up hearing this story, I would recommend this as a way to get a fresh perspective. For those of you wwo have not, I would highly recommend that you listen to this to get an accurate and compeling introduction.
Joe J.'s lyrics are amazing and Michael J.'s music is definitely inspiring! Jeremy J.'s portrayal of Jesus is very convincing. All of the vocalists deserve awards.:)Yep, I'd advise it!
An amazing work of faith.......2004-08-10
I would recommend this cd to anyone - Christian, atheist, undecided, lover of rock, opera, or country music (although you will find no country music here). The music is inspired as are the lyrics. The vocal performances are amazing. The whole production is a work of faith, best listened to in its entirety in one sitting. But don't just take it from me. Buy the cd, and write your own review. Seriously, it's worth your while. Good art, particularly on such topics, is hard to come by. But here. Here it is.
rock opera.......2004-08-10
while im not one for the opera, i do like rock music. the music was great, and had some awesome guitar riffs, as well as good lyrics. this record gives a different perspective to the passion of Christ, and i would recommend it to anyone.
