Customer Reviews:
I can't live with Audience, House on the Hill.......2007-01-09
I've owned the LP version since it came out in the 1970s. This is one of the few albums that I cannot live without. The songs are beautifully crafted and are simply perfect.
The Audience love the "Audience".......2006-11-13
I was fortunate to get my first listen of "House on the Hill" in my teens in the 70s and was with a bunch of Surfers on the Beach in Napier, New Zealand, before going to a Hippy Party. Obviously, the Grass was in full flow, and some time during the night, the House on the Hill record was put on the Turntable. WOW! MY GOD!WHAT IS THIS? You know the feeling. It could have beenDark Side of the Moon for the 1st time when your mind is in complete Bliss. Every song on this album is MAGIC. Howard Werth's vocals are definitely unique. I cant understand people who say you either love his voice or you hate it. I can understand people saying that about Roger Chapman (Of Family) though. All the styles of the Songs are given top marks in my books. The Epic Climatic Classical piece "Ravioli"; The funky shimmerimg "Nancy"; the pyschedelically tinged "Eye to eye"; The Haunting "House on the Hill"; The Beautiflly emotional "I had a dream"; The Spellbinding " I put a spell on you - THe list goes on. I know that Audience have still been touring the U.K. during the last few years, and I am sure it would be an experience on its own to see them perform. No doubt, a few songs from H.O.T.H. would get an airing.
70's Memory's.......2005-10-20
I used to listen to this album alot way back when, now listening to it again I can see why I liked it, because it sounds just as great now if not better the it did then. Couldn't find it anywhere but Amazon.
Thanks
for the adventurous listener.......2005-10-15
Not your typical prog-rock, there's no electic guitar. Instead
Howard Werth plays an amplified classical guitar. He's quite
good, however his voice is an acquired taste. When Keith Gemmel
plays the flute, it gives a Tull-ish feel, and his sax playing
reminds me of David Jackson from Van Der Graaf Generator. The
rhythmn section is above average. Prog-Rock fans in search of something different may find this of interest.
