Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars There's No Hope Road.......2006-08-11

It is so difficult to get ahold of "Hope Road", that many avid Anne Clark fans are frustrated. Luckily, there have been so many searches on Amazon, including mine, that she is now included. I have not heard all of this album, but am buying it for "Hope Road". I have an EP of "Hope Road", that I purchased, in England. It is 36 minutes long. It is so good. Unfortunately, I have no equipment set up from which I can record it on disc. Hope Road" is the quintessential "Spoken Word Song" of the 80's. There were other artists who incorporated spoken word (poetry) into their music; for example, Fred Wilhelm's "Beneath You". I am indeed grateful to be getting "Hopeless Cases", which includes the short version of "Hope Road". Thanks, Amazon.

3 out of 5 stars a unique sound mix of early 80s electro mixed with poetry.......2004-11-26

This album is hard to describe to someone who has never heard it before, however I would start with saying that it is basically early 80s electro/synth music with anne clark singing peotry like lyrics over the top. This may sound a strange mix, but listen to "homecoming" and I am sure you will agree that is works very well together. Similar in style to early 80s Depeche Mode or Front 242 musically, but with female talked vocals. Other top tracks are "Up" , "Now" and "Leaving". Worth a listen if you like 80s minimalist electro/synthpop.
