4 out of 5 stars Cool ALbum.......2005-07-22

Compared to their first effort 'Breakfast', this has a tighter sound to it, which only shows how a band could mature from one album to the next. I like this enhanced version coz not only can you listen to some cool chops here but also watch 2 good videos - 'Bimbo' and 'Creep'. I was hoping that the video for 'Perfect Tonight' was included in this album since it is one of the catchier songs in this effort, but if you really would like to see that one too, you can always log on to their official website, Lambrettamusic.com. Some other catchy tunes from this album include 'Wake Up Girl' and 'Piece of My Heart'. This is a great album to have especially if you've just heard about this band and you decide to buy their most recent album, 'The Fight'. Linda is one great vocalist with a unique voice. You could also check her out in one of Apocalyptica's materials, performing a song called Faraway II, in the album, 'Reflections Revised'. Happy Listening.

5 out of 5 stars VERY COOL, ORIGINAL, POPPY + HARDROCKIN'!!.......2003-10-17

Well, I discovered Lambretta by accident last year, when the band performed as part of a Swedish music festival at renowned NYC club CBGBs. I've ALWAYS loved Swedish artists + bands, as they have this unique, bright, refreshing pop sensibility, something in their water or something. I figured I can't go wrong by attending, I knew 1 of the bands on the bill (Pineforest Crunch), and I'm always on the lookout for more bands to discover from Scandinavia. First band on the bill?? Lambretta. My reaction?? No surprise, I was floored!! However, I thought they were a new band in search of a record deal. Wrong!!

I had no idea they had TWO albums out, both on Universal no less!! I found this disc by accident, in a used record store on Long Island, and I was both happy and shocked by my discovery. My copy doesn't have the 2 videos, but I'll live. I was happy that Lambretta was as great on disc as they were on the rock + roll stage. This disc is SOLID!! The first one, which I received and heard later, via a friend in Finland, 1999's "Breakfast", was very good too, but they definitely evolved on this 2nd self-titled effort.

How would I describe their sound?? A perfect hybrid of Swedish female pop (Robyn, Britney productions--in a good way) with HEAVY, metallic, crunchy powerpop made for the arena rock stage. Usually, one dominates the other, or it sounds forced or lopsided. Here, somehow, Lambretta makes this combination work like magic, the most natural thing in the world. GORGEOUS blonde lead singer Linda Sundblad combines the sweetness and tone of Kylie Minogue with a haunting darkness + rock & roll attitude that works on the brilliantly crunchy + ultracatchy anthems like the singles "Bimbo" + "Creep", the propulsive, Garbage-like "Piece Of My Heart" and rocking opener "Wake Up Girl", as well as a soulful sincerity on tracks like the ballad "Perfect Tonight", the anti-drug "Give Me Love", and the sensitive, lovely "Cry In My Arms".

Linda is a woman of many dimensions, and the rest of the band has the skill + chops to deliver these songs home with attitude, power + panache to spare. Twin guitarists Anders Eliasson + Klas Edmundsson do great work here, with real originality, chops, and feeling. The rhythm section of bass player Petter Lantz and drummer Tomas Persic are really creative on this disc as well. The band are great songwriters/composers as well, having written most of the tracks. The rest were written by top Swedish writers, such as Max Martin, FOR the band, as a compliment. This proves that a band like Lambretta are something special.

Their 3rd album is almost ready, and based on an article in Billboard, it looks like Interscope is interested in bringing the band to the US. Everything is set, except for a last minute commitment. Let's just HOPE they will release album #3 in America, at least to do Americans a noble service. They NEED to hear this band!! If Evanescence can do well, so can Lambretta. They have a sorta similar sound, heavy but VERY poppy, VERY melodic, + multidimensional, but without the faux-gothic tones, more of a brightness and diversity, and a powerful (but sweet + gorgeous) blonde frontwoman in Linda. America NEEDS Lambretta!! In the meantime, before album #3, check out this album #2, "Lambretta", and try to track down their 1999 Universal debut "Breakfast", as Amazon doesn't have it listed anywhere. Go to their website: www.lambrettamusic.com, and try to catch the band live, cuz they rock!! Peace...

4 out of 5 stars POP GOES LAMBRETTA!.......2003-04-04

It's hard to define the sound of certain groups/singers. Lambretta deliver a great album of mixed tunes. The ultimate catchy CREEP crawls on you so easily, it's like the flu. The sound is almost Garbage meets Britney (in a pop music sense). The lyrics are simple, meaningful and catchy. The also better BIMBO has more punch and attitude...and screams girl power. The album can be infectious when also listening to WAKE UP GIRL, and PIECE OF MY HEART...another two tunes that deliver great musical pow! A good swedish remedy to new age pop for 2002! and beyond- enjoy the album guys!

4 out of 5 stars First album is ok, but this one is fantastic!.......2003-03-22

She has an awesome voice and the band is incredible! Rock/pop and so much more!! If you like Garbage, No Doubt, hmm, strong female vocalists in general...youll likely enjoy this Swedish group!
