Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars LIVE: The way that Wishbone Ash should be heard.......2005-03-23

Wishbone Ash was one of those bands that I remembered from my college days in the early Seventies, but with whom I lost track of in the intervening years. To my delight, I learned that the band has continued to record and tour. I bought this double CD collection because it had a few songs that I recalled from years ago and it was inexpensive. I'm glad that I did as this German import set contains live performances by the band in several different incarnations, including some songs with the original band members (Andy Powell, Martin Turner, Ted Turner, and Steve Upton). Today, only guitarist/vocalist Powell remains but, regardless of who's in the band, the playing is always first-rate, even when some of the material is not.

The negative on this set is the sequencing of the performances. This collection represents three different versions of the band with performances than span 1976 to 2002. Unfortunately, the performances from the different bands are intermingled with one another . . . I would have preferred that the CD be split into three separate "sets" for each version of the band that's represented here. But aside from that, this is a great showcase for a band that should be heard live.
