Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars a change of direction.......2006-04-06

Anybody wanting a Roxette style album then forget it coz this aint no substitute.
Roxette last released a studio album in 2001 'Room Service' after that they recorded new material for 2 compilation albums.it was shortly after these were recorded that marie fell ill and Roxette were put on hold.
Marie not wanting to work too much for obvious reasons took some time out to record this album.
most of the album works well only one or two songs let it down my 3 personal favourite tracks being the change, bad moon and 2:nd chance. Some tracks could have come off Roxette album but anybody wanting more will have to wait til october 2006 when Roxette will release a new Greatest Hits for their 20th anniversary.Buy this it will make you feel sad and happy at the same time.

1 out of 5 stars poor.......2005-08-30

Without Per Gessle's musical ability, Marie sounds poor on this album. None of the songs show any melodic promise.

The change- an awful repetitive dirge of a number, with the same riff repeating over and over. No melody can be heard through the noise. I was shocked by how tuneless this number is. Almost grunge like.
The orchestral version is not really better. Nicely arranged, just don't think there is much of a melody here.

A table in the sun- so dull. Soft tune, without any direction and sparse poor instrumentation. The singing is off too on this tune.

Bad moon- boring rock song, with predictable chord changes and no movement in the song. Shapeless. Chorus is slightly better.

Rest are a mixture of poor rock songs and extremely dull ballads.

4 out of 5 stars Marie's Back.......2005-08-29

For those who may not know, Marie Fredriksson is the Swedish power songstress from the 80's pop group Roxette, which she co-fronted with Swedish pop veteran Per Gessle. 'The Change' is her first solo album in English since the last offering by Roxette.

I purchased the CD hoping to hear more of the kind of soulful introspection I enjoyed on her tracks with Roxette. And I'm happy to say I was not disappointed.

Granted, among Roxette fans, there are those who gravitated more to Per's upbeat happy-fun music, and those fans will admittedly find less to like on this album. But for the rest of us who want something a little more substantial in their music, Marie delivers in spades with this work.

Highlights of this album for me were 'Love 2 Live' and 'Mother'. Heartily recommended.

5 out of 5 stars LISTEN TO YOUR HEART AND RELEASE THIS IN AMERICA.......2005-07-30

I am a huge Roxette fan from New York. Their music had a big impact here in the early 90's but went south after. I think there sound is awesome and very creative and American record companies should have kept them around. Anyway as far as Marie's solo album, it is a fantastic piece of work and its great to have her back making great music after her terrible ordeal with the brain tumor. The lyrics on the album reflect how great it is to be back healthy and doing what she loves. Her voice is great and really shines on such tunes as the Change,Second Chance,April Snow. Marie singing is so underrated
here in the states but now that Listen To Your Heart has been a huge hit here all over again with the remake, maybe the public will take an interest in Roxette again or even this wonderful solo album marie has blessed us with. GOD BLESS MARIE FREDRICKSON.
