Customer Reviews:
Live acoustic version of "Fly Away" and "Believe".......2003-06-05
In the old days a single was what you bought to, paradoxically, decide whether or not you wanted to buy an album or to avoid buying the album. In the brave new world of CDs a single is now something you buy in addition to the album because the very best CD-singles offer you tracks you cannot get on the album. That is the case here with the CD-single "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz. You have the original single from his 1998 album "5" along with a live acoustic version of the track and "Believe," both recorded at a Seattle radio station. Obviously, it is those live acoustic tracks that make picking up this CD-single worthwhile for Kravitz fans. Kravitz built his musical reputation on being a master synthesis, which is more accurate than simply labeling him as "retro." But behind all that there is the craftsmanship he brings to the studio. That makes the live cuts even more interesting, because this is Kravitz without the advantages of technology.
perfect.......1999-11-18
prefect blend for the mixed era generation.I can see how his parents influenced his performance in life, music, love;and feeling`s. "Thank`s God". For lenny`s talient`s
A feast for the ears.......1999-11-05
I really didn't pay much attention to Lenny Kravitz's earlier music. One day, I was rushing past the Hard Rock Cafe on my way to the bank, trying to get there before it closed, and I caught the chorus of this song. It was like I'd been hit with a lightning bolt. It pulled at something in me. I don't care what some of these bozos who have written reviews say; this song is one of the most painfully beautiful pieces I have heard in a long time. The hook is addictive. I could listen to the instrumental ALONE over and over again. This song (for me) is about leaving stress behind, about breaking free and soaring above the petty madness of everday life. I LOOOVVVE THIS SONG! This song is talkin' 'bout my generation!
A masterful blend of acoustic guitar and vocals........1999-11-03
This version of Fly Away is the single best acoustic guitar I have ever heard. It blew my mind and sent me to heaven on earth with the acoustical guitar solo. Keep working magic Lenny.
