Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars of course it sounds like Snuff.......2005-12-06

Many people might ask, "Has Duncan taken a different course with this new Billy No Mates band?" Answer: "No." This could easily pass as a Snuff album, bearing the mostly downbeat harmonics of Tweet Tweet My Lovely. Which means it's not as catchy as Demmamussabebonk, not as throaty as Numb Nuts, and not as over-produced as Disposable Income. The only thing that really bothers me is that you'll hear a lot, A LOT, of memories on this disc. It's one thing to have "a sound" (Bad Religion have been mining the same vein for 2 decades now, god bless 'em) but i'm talking about lifting riffs and melodies from past Snuff songs to the point where i was left wondering if Billy No Mates was just a Snuff cover band with Duncan fronting them (seriously, if the chorus from Frijweg isn't a carbon copy of Chocs Away then i'll eat my hat.) But, it's still good. And like i said, expect more of the downtempo Snuff, not the spazoid speedcore stuff that they always manage to sneak in at least 1 track per album (actually, they do that here too, track 6, ironically titled What's Wrong With That?) Enjoyable, if not suspiciously familiar.
