i loved nixon's,latest thing.this cd is right up there with that.great cd.it's got rockin' songs and soft songs for every listener.i also got to see zac in wichita falls,tx,he put on a real good show.i have to admit there is not a bad song on this cd.i can't wait for his next release.

3 out of 5 stars tasted like fastfood........2003-01-09

i was somewhat satisfied with the overall progression of zac maloy's cd. i fell in love with with his radio-fueled hit single, 'early morning phonecall', and it's what drove me to buy his cd. but after listening to the cd two times through, i found out that the lyrical content grew somewhat repititive--mainly based around same things. for instance, 'lifeline' and 'life' struck me in the same way, as well as 'grace' and 'johnny 9' both revolving around the topics of someone being lost in life/or just lost. i can't blame zac, his cd is entitled 'life' and as i figured, it would be--the songs--centered around the everyday hassles and stereotypical topics of life. and i admit, it hits you in a way, but only for the first few times you listen to them.

i'll give praise to the instrumental side of his music though. i love the slow acoustics mixed in the guitar riffs--it adds substance to the, in my mind, stale words. it's got variety--from the electric guitar note-picking of 'early morning phonecall' to the slow contempo acoustics of 'grace' to mix pop bubblegum sound that 'crash' inhibits, the album is diverse in its punches.

i expected something more though. 'early morning phonecall' struck such emotional inertias and invited you to zac's world. compared to that single song alone--the cd just doesn't meet up to the calibur, and i guess that's why they decided for that one song to be a single, because it was that damn good. almost acted as some type of lure. yeah, zac's cd tasted like fastfood, and i wanted italian.

4 out of 5 stars If you liked the Nixons.......2002-01-03

Well, if you liked the Nixons I think you will enjoy this album from Zac. I personally loved it. I've seen him perform his solo stuff at the Curtain Club and it rocked...
