Customer Reviews:
Best album I've heard in a long time.......2007-01-26
This is seriously a fantastic album. In fact, I was blown away by it. The vocals are great (a slight resemblence to Maynard's voice in APC) and the instrumentals are uncanny--far better than most of the crap on the radio. In only a manner of weeks after I purchased this album could I say it was on my top 10 favorite albums. The rock world needs more stuff like this proving that the genre hasn't been overrun with whiny punk-sounding crap. I salute you Acroma. Please, make another album.
Talented Band!.......2006-08-30
I'm a big fan of Tool and APC. If you like Tool and APC you'll mostly like Acroma. Actually, if you enjoy quality music you'll enjoy this CD. The singer sounds like a young Maynard. The music has great progression. I just don't understand why this band never took off. This band is much better than most of the crap they play on the radio. The more I listen to it, the better it gets. I heard the band broke up. I hope they get back together and make some more great music. Support the band and buy this album. I highly recommend it!
Sometimes Unknowns Impress........2006-07-27
Acroma is another one of those good bands didn't hit it big or really get any radio play at all. It's actually kind of sad how so many unknown bands like doubleDrive, Lifer, Mad at Gravity, and Sinch don't do well due to the fact that the bigger bands of mainstream radio drown them out. Acroma fits perfectly into the mess as a band that probably would have done a whole lot better if it had been the first of its kind. "Orbitals" is actually a really good album that fans of Mad at Gravity or A Perfect Circle should check out. I enjoyed pretty much all of the cd I had picked up shortly after hearing "Don't Think Just Move" on Internet radio. My favorite tracks on this album are "Sun Rises Down", "Don't Think Just Move", "Sweat", and "Orbitals". My track ratings are as follows...
1. Careless Ones (Intro) - 9.5/10
2. Sun Rises Down - 10/10
3. Sweat - 10/10
4. Wash Away (Some Desert Night) - 9.5/10
5. Don't Think Just Move - 10/10
6. Motive - 9/10
7. Perfect - 8/10
8. Big Karma Now - 9/10
9. Distance - 6/10
10. Orbitals - 10/10
11. On That Day - 9/10
12. Slow Down - 8.5/10
13. Take The Pain - 7.5/10
Overall: 89% B+
It just goes to show you, just because the band didn't make it big doesn't mean they aren't good. Maybe you may not find it as good as I do but I'm positive you should find something you like on this cd if you are a fan of music style like A Perfect Circle.
Great High-Energy, Straight-Ahead Rock 'n' Roll!.......2006-06-04
I can't understand how Acroma never made it big...they had everything: talent, creative songwriting, and a pure rock 'n' roll sound that you'd think would have the same mass-appeal as Creed or 3 Doors Down (although Acroma's music is much better). I bought "Orbitals" on the strength of hearing one song ("Sun Rises Down") on a local college radio station only ONE TIME...something I've never done before. And I don't regret the impulse-buy for a second...every track is supremely listenable, and several are excellent. How ironic that this band is from my home state, that they got a contract with a major label (Republic/Universal), and yet I never heard of them until after their break-up (and only realized they were local after I bought the CD & read the liner notes)! Admittedly, I don't go to clubs very often, but I do listen to local radio stations a LOT -- you'd think they'd have been proud of these talented home-town boys & given them some serious airplay (after all, they're far better than fellow Utah band The Used, in my opinion). All I can think is that Acroma were poorly-managed & even more poorly promoted. I guess all we can hope for is that they might reunite someday & give it another go. For now, I strongly recommend you buy "Orbitals" & enjoy!
The greatest thing that never happened..........2005-06-24
This was a bitter sweet moment for me after finishing listening to this album. One of the most awesome audio experiences of my life yet tragic becuase I'll never hear another album from them.
I am a HUGE fan of Tool and APC and was just blown away when I heard this album. I got chills when I heard "Don't Think Just Move". It just reeked of APC and I LOVED IT!!!
I heard "Sun Rises Down" on The Torch on XM radio (was Acroma a Christian band? Cause Torch is a Christian station). Anyways, I heard it and just instantly got this great vibe and started humming the tune and after listening to the album realized that every song is like that.
The album kicks off with an eerie calm that you don't really know what to expect. It has a haunting and etherial feel to it and then this incredibly cool guitar lick comes in reminicent of Jerry Cantrell's (Alice in Chains) progression from their song "Am I Inside" and then the singer comes in and then well...all hell breaks loose and it goes straight into their second song "Sun rises down". Just awesome. I can't describe it any other way.
