Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Turns it up a notch.......2007-01-03

Turns up the energy from his previous efforts. Very bluesy album and sounds completely live. New singer which has no vocal range whatsoever, he rasps throughout the whole album. Trower really wails on this CD and heavy on the wah-wah. A couple straightforward (loud) blues songs. Songwriting is pretty good but it sounds like Trower's just having some fun and letting go. This is a rockin album, he just picks the wrong singers. If Dewar (RIP) could have sang on this it would have been one of Trower's best.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant.......2006-05-19

Wow. I am big fan of Robin Trower from the 70's and I am now discovering what've I missed since then. This album is great and the guitar work is amazing. I bought this a few days ago and it's now on my IPOD and CD player and its the only thing I've listened to since I got it.

As with any album some songs are stronger than others but so far I've been listening to this straight through. I won't review the songs individually yet as I am still taking them all in.

If you like Robin Trower you should get this album.

5 out of 5 stars very tasteful........2005-11-06

The old Trower of 1973 shines through here although the solos are not as long. The vocals are not on par with the late James Dewar but then vocalists like Dewar are very hard to come by in 1994. The slow tracks are where Robins tasteful use of feedback and selection of just the right notes are evident. On "Precious Gift" although the lyrics may seem a little contrived Robins solo is PURE MAGIC. The usage of feedback is just perfect.
Again the moody, dark and ethereal instrumental called "Secret Place" is one of the best electric guitar solos(on a Fender Strat) ever done. The chords are extremely obtuse and augmented which gives the song an eerie feel.
The faster numbers have the usual Trower stamp of perfection.
Altogether a wonderful c.d. that will have you gasping for more.

4 out of 5 stars Gritty guitar, solid effort.......2005-07-14

As with any Trower release, this has some great guitar work on it. Mention has been made in other reviews about the last than stellar vocals and I agree. Having said that, if you like gritty blues and rock, this is a great CD to buy. You can order it from [...]along with some of his other more recent releases.
