Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Mildly Amusing.......2006-09-04

I expected more from the Mastermixers...what did they mix here?
just straight music...nothing new...nothing fun...just average vocals with average music. I have heard other Beatle impersonators do mixes and I DO love the Beatles but...I will be selling my copy soon.

3 out of 5 stars For Water Aerobics, worth playing to supplement the real Beatles.......2005-08-19

(1)
The obvious question is, if you already own "Beatles 1," "Beatles 1962 - 1966," and "Beatles 1967 - 1970," why bother with this CD, even for water aerobics?

The answer is: Because in the environment of water aerobics:

(a) These songs are done well enough to pass as the original songs,

(b) No single Beatles CD has this many good songs,

(c) Some of this CD's songs are simply not on any of "Beatles 1," "Beatles 1962 - 1966," and "Beatles 1967 - 1970," and

(d) The beat is much more distinct, and the fidelity (sound quality) is better, than the original (real) Beatles recordings.

(2)
Here's how Jive Bunny Beatles songs compare to the originals:

(a) The quality does vary from song to song.

(b) All vocals are at least Grade A- imitations. However, they skimped on the instrumentation, which overall I give a C+. Since the voice is key, the average song overall rates about a Grade B.

(b) "She Loves You" is about a D+, because it sounds as if Jive Bunny left out an instrumentation track or two.

(c) Note that the beginnings and ends of the songs can charitably be described as abrupt, due to each song blending into the next for about a second or two. This is fine if you play the songs in order.

(d) Some of the songs are significantly shorter than the originals. For example, "Magical Mystery Tour" is only 1 minute and 4 seconds long. Nine of the songs are less than 2 minutes long, and the longest song is only 2 minutes and 37 seconds long. However, in the environment of water aerobics most people, including myself, consider this as much an advantage as a disadvantage, and the essence of each song is captured.

(e) For what it's worth, each song is has a slightly faster beat than the song before it.

(3)
In summary,

(a) This CD is how I'd expect the Beatles to sound live (and unedited) were we able to magically transport today's recording technology back to them.

(b) For water aerobics, it's worth playing in addition to the real Beatles songs.

3 out of 5 stars Not A Bad Effort At All....................2002-03-24

Similar to the ABBA tribute album, Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers have assembled a group of sound-a-likes to produce an introduction to some of the Beatles' best known tracks.

Because it's a non-stop medley album, some Beatles' fans will be angered to hear their favourite band receive the Jive Bunny treatment. Despite that, I recommend this album for those who haven't heard the Beatles before (is there anyone??) as a taster of what they can expect.

"Jive Bunny Plays The Music Of The Beatles" won't win any awards for success, still, it's not a bad album either. Coincidentally, this album -- along with the ABBA tribute -- is the first two releases in a forthcoming 'tribute' series.
