Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.......2000-12-18

I heard this playing in a local independent record shop and immediately became transfixed by its mesmerizing sound. Everyone in the shop was grooving to these most excellent tunes. I bought it right away and was not disappointed. The production is marvelous, evoking that vacuum-packed wall-of-sound Phil Specter perfected in the 60's. Although it sounds retro, this music is far more interesting to me than what bands like the Apples in Stereo are currently doing. It sports some of the best use of organ that I've heard in a long while. This music is addictive. Enjoyed it so much I picked up "Strung Out in Heaven" which is also excellent - though a bit more stripped down in sound and without the multi-tracked, echoey vocals. If you enjoy The Dandy Warhols and itch for something a bit more raw and unpolished, I recommend this. I'm kicking myself, because I just moved from San Francisco and recall that this band often play there.
