5 out of 5 stars Rebuttle to "God Awful" Review.......2005-09-15

This is in response to the review titled "God Awful". Chris Conlon has every right to give a negative review. That is his opinion and we all know everyone has one. However, the comment, "...since the singer is a white boy, he fails miserably." displays his complete ignorance.

The race card has no place in this review, and if he had done 1/10 of research before he spewed out his negativity, he would have discovered the singer is Peurto Rican.

As for the quality of The Veil, I feel it is musically superb and Strength in Numbers efforts are recognized.

2 out of 5 stars God Awful.......2005-07-23

Review by Tyler Wagnon:

Despite what some naysayer would lead you to believe, metalcore is not a bad genre. However, it is a genre that happens to play host to a lot of second and third rate imitators. There are still bands out there doing metalcore right. Unfortunately Strength in Numbers is NOT one of them.

Their breed of metalcore leans a bit more to the metal spectrum, but mostly because of the cliché Swedish melodic riffs. They have a few hints at some nice energetic songs, but the songwriting is pretty awful. Not to mention they don't do anything from a technical aspect.

The real thing that gets irritating, however, is the clean singing. They are trying way too hard to have a soulful crooning edge like Howard Jones, and since the singer is a white boy, he fails miserably. Without the clean vocals they are just an average metalcore band, but with them they become completely obnoxious.

If you have to have every metalcore album that comes out, go ahead and waste your money on this garbage. But heed this warning; the clean singing is vomit-inducing.

5 out of 5 stars Incredibly Good.......2005-05-19

I would have to say this is an awesome album. Its Hardcore screams and softcore emo like singing are equalized perfectly. They are also talented with their intruments. The lyrics are great. deep and meaningful.

If you know Strength in Numbers well enough then you know that this album is just their Rise and Resist Album with about 4 new songs. If you have ever heard their very fist album Head Rush then you know their sound has been changed alot. Their first album awas mostly Rap-Metal. but this. This album is greatness from begining to end.

If your a fan of Hardcore/Metalcore/Emo then this is for You it truly is a perfect blend of all three elements.

5 out of 5 stars Superb Metal - Get this CD if you are smart.......2005-04-29

This is one of the best metal albums to come out. What makes these guys shine is talent. They are not hiding behind studio trickery. Each member contributes to the overall product. What you end up getting is some pretty talented music. While not everybody will like them, I think the guy's one point about the solo's couldn't have been anymore off the mark. One of the standout features of this band ARE the solo's. I've been listening to metal since around 1983 and play music myself. I think I am qualified to know what a bad, poor or horrible solo sounds like. You won't find one on "The Veil" even if you look with a microscope (my favorite solo, btw is on track 2). Funny how every other review I've read on this album mentions bands like Killswitch Engage, Shadow's Fall, old-Metallica, and God Forbid. So whatever. I cannot wait to see these guys live.

If you like new metal or the great stuff from times-past, and want something that doesn't blend in with all the other crap that's out there and sounds fresh, buy this album.
