Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Rarities?.......2005-11-07

Call this Rarities? More like: "A Couple of Unreleased Tracks and Some Fill-in Songs"! Yes, it does have some great rare songs, but you can find Madman and Blind on Frogstomp and Ana's Song (Acoustic) on The Best Of CD. Also, I looked at the tracks on this and then at the tracks on The Best Of Silverchair and all the songs are on there aswell! I warn people not to buy this and get The Best Of Silverchair instead.

PS. Silverchair, I still love you.

3 out of 5 stars Great for Silverchair Fans, A Pass for the Masses.......2004-04-09

I have to admit I'm a Silverchair-aholic, and it pains me to do this to any of their CDs, but they only get a three star rating for this one. It has great songs, and great variety in moods and the generations of Daniel Johns' writing, which wins it three stars, but it isn't a good value at this price.

Why? Because you can get all of these songs (With the exception of "Spawn: the pre-Vitro version"), and the majority of their more popular tracks on "Silverchair: The Best of, VOL 1" album for the same price, or half the price if you are involved in the club pricing on Amazon.

So, if you are a fan (like me), who is going to collect it anyway just because it is a Silverchair CD; by all means go for it. Also, if you have the Frogstomp, Freak Show, and Neon Ballroom albums already, and therefore can't justify buying the Best of album, here is a great way to get almost everything else that album had to offer without repurchasing the previously released tracks. Otherwise, the Silverchair: Best of VOL1 album is the best way to experience the most of silverchair's incredible run and the unreleased goodies!

Hope this was helpful!

4 out of 5 stars Untitled... everyone should hear.......2003-08-16

Well I give this album 4 stars just because of the 'Untitled' track. It was featured on the 'Godzilla soundtrack' and also was considered to be one of the closing songs on their 2nd album 'Freak Show'. Whether you've heard of Silverchair or not I would recommend you to at least download the song. 'Punk Song #2' is also pretty good.. Blind is a really good song. And 'Ana's Song (Open Fire) [acoustic]' is pretty good. I think it's not really one of their best songs even though it was released as a single and pretty popular. But if I were you if you're looking for rarities of Silverchair buy their greatest hits of volume 1. And 'Frogstomp' and 'Neon Ballroom'. 'Diorama' takes awhile to get used to but it grows on you and becomes a very good cd. I didn't buy Freak Show because a few of the tracks seemed a bit too hard and it just wasnt a very good cd to me. So i wouldn't buy this if I were you. Just go ahead and get their greatest hits you'll get your money's worth.. but there are some other really good songs of theirs not on there.

3 out of 5 stars Not so rare................2003-07-07

Too bad it's just a cd of unreleased tracks. There's nothing really special to it. Needed something more to justify a release. Lacks a bit of soul.

3 out of 5 stars Rarities- for a reason.......2003-04-07

Untiteled is probably one of Silverchairs best songs, and the acoustic version of Anas song is great. There is a reason why this compilation of songs`s preveously unreleased (well, most of them), and that is the poor quality of the material.
The good songs are naturally on the albums...
If you`re a fan, buy it!
