5 out of 5 stars REVIEW DETAILS AND SCORES FROM ONLINE MAGAZINES.......2006-08-16

ROUGH EDGE zine gives it a 3.5 out of 4 points and goes on to say...."Deadly Sin's "Sunborn" is a prime example of where heavy music is headed. Whatever you want to call it -- prog metal, stadium rock or just plain good music -- Deadly Sin proves they're great at it.
The music is tight and genuine throughout, full of first-rate guitar riffs, keyboards and epic storylines. "Sunborn" is the genuine article, truly one of the most solid and down right f*<>ing awesome rock CDs I have had the pleasure of reviewing recently. I must say I listened to "Sunborn" about four times so far and I cannot get enough of this truly astounding album.
I have yet to absorb the complete complexity of this release, but that is the truly fun part. Deadly Sin's "Sunborn" is simply outstanding."

HARD ROCK AND METAL REVIEWS...gave it an 8 out of 10 points
and says...."Deadly Sin - Sunborn
(Spiritual Beast/Nightmare)

Trials and tribulations have caused this seven-year-struggling German act to go through a plethora of lineup hassles and demo releases to wind up in the here and now with a punchy, professional, powerful album that eschews power and prog metal clichýs while remaining traditional and exquisitely clean. The end result is a slamming, earthy record of Nevermore or Eidolon proportions blessed with a gorgeous drum sound and a multi-dimensional, sonorous, tuneful singer in Russ Thompson. There's a strong American metal element as well, perhaps evoking images of Meliah Rage, Metal Church or Vicious Rumors but then proggy melodies and mood shifts enter from stage left, amalgamating in a band that, through design or accident, drops within the foreign-ness one would expect from German acts performing power/prog (Disillusion fits this latter descriptive as well). It's a potent and sly mix of styles, Deadly Sin ending up with inspired grooves, through what is a measured, miserly visitation upon the elements above, the dominating trunk of the tree being trad."

5 out of 5 stars From out of Nowhere!.......2006-06-13

It never ceases to amaze me? Every now and again I stumble on to some obscure metal band virtually by accident while surfing the net and I am absolutely floored by the music I am hearing.

Sure, more often than not I check out a bands site and am not overly impressed with what I hear. But in the case of Deadly Sin, I have discovered a completely awesome melodic power/thrash band with a hint of prog, that hold their own with the heavy weights of the genre and even manage to exceed them on some levels. Deadly Sin play a style comparable to Angel Dust, Brainstorm, Iced Earth, Nevermore, and hints of old Metallica and Megadeth. So if you like the above mentioned bands you will surely love the music of Deadly Sin.

With 'Sunborn' Deadly Sin really prove there songwriting prowess. Every song on the album is of the utmost quality! Very memorable choruses that while catchy, are always clever and never sound generic.

The guitar work is excellet! Killer riffs full of fresh ideas and well timed solos. The singers voice is also excellent. Ross, sounds very 'Hetfield' like at times but can also deliver on the more melodic parts and adds in good vocal harmonies on the choruses. His voice blends perfectly with the bands aggressive yet melodic brand of metal. The rhythm section is also very tight as to be expected from a band this talanted.

Another impessive aspect is the first rate production job on this album. Top notch and so impressive considering the small label these guys are signed through.

All things considered this is among the best albums I have in my collection. I certainly was not expecting 'Sunborn' to be that good when I ordered it. Albums like this remind me of why I like heavy metal so much!
