Album Description
This is a complete re-issue of the long out-of-print debut by 70s LA punk icons. Features performances by members of X (John Doe, Exene Cervenka, and DJ Bonebrake), ten bonus tracks, their first 7-inch, compilation appearances, and unreleased demos, all remastered. Also includes reproductions of the original cover art in an oversized, deluxe, 10-panel booklet. From Byron Coley's liner notes: "The lyrics are wonderful bleeding collages of B-movie dementia, street crime, Mexican Catholicism, and Dionysian punk spurt poetics. The vocals are powerful cat-scratched patterns of night-ripping fear, huge bursts of post-glottal raunch-vomit, and cascades of pure and toxic love...Corrosively poetic...explosively visionary."
Customer Reviews:
The only Flesheaters CD you will ever need........2007-04-11
It has everything: The first LP, the first 7", the songs off "Tooth and Nail", plus demos (not a necessity).
this will never stop playing in my collection. just beautiful........2005-06-29
I have a deep deep love for this cd. It blows my mind. I sometimes really wish Chris D. would have gone a tid bit more in the punk direction. Not that I don't like five minute rock/blues songs, its just that this album is genius. All the songs on this cd are classic. EVERY SINGLE ONE. It never gets old and its all original (thanks to Chris D.'s lyrics and vocal work). It would be great if they rerecorded it nowdays becuase all the songs they redid off this album sound amazing with their later talent. The only song that doesnt gel on this cd is 'Cry Baby Killer'. Its a great song, but it kind of kills the tempo. BLESS YOURSELF. BUY THIS NOW.
GREAT MELODIC L.A. HARDCORE.......2005-01-07
This is their first record, it came out in 1980 and it is truly a document. It is a classic melodic California hardcore punk record, rougf and fast but at the same time very entertaining and sometimes poppy.Everyone who listens to early melodic hardcore must but this record, it is a must.
