Customer Reviews:
Just beautiful and flawless.......2004-12-24
The last art by the perfectionist. Clarity of sound and rich nuance cannot be reproduced by PC or inexpensive audio system.
I removed CD from my portable during the first track "Zone" and played on JBL 4343W powered by Marantz Polar Star power amp.
To reproduce fully HiFi sound in this CD, probably you will need to upgrade your audio system.
When played on Highend system, you will be surprised at the dynamic range and clarity - "Spirit of the water" is a good example where whispering voice by Talluah (Pete's daughter) is heard.
I believe this version "Spirit of the water" sung by Pete and Talluah is the best version after comparing Camel Original, Andy Latimer, Mirage and Pete Burdern's Mirage.
I am really sad that there will never be new songs by Pete. The great farewell gift to fans like me.
Another excellent album........2004-09-13
I was excited to find this album, but saddened to learn it was Pete Bardens' last. It is a strong "new age" disc very consistent with his previous releases. Also check out "Speed of Light" and, what I believe to be his personal best, "Water Colors."
Pete was a great man.......2003-07-06
Having been a long-time fan of Pete's work, I was excited to hear that he was living nearby when I was residing in Malibu. Through circumstance, I had the very fortunate opportunity to make friends with Pete shortly before he passed away, and assisted in the early steps of promoting this project. Pete was reluctant... he wasn't sure that he would be able to get a contract for the release of this album; he wasn't even sure if there was anyone out there who wanted to hear it. When I first listened to the final mix of the disc, and printed up a number of samples for him to send out as promos to find a distributor, I was in awe. This music was a labor of love for him... he put heart and soul into it, and you can hear it in each track. He was excited to have his daughter lending her vocal talents to the project, and very thankful of his association with Mick Fleetwood. In many ways, this disc is a great big thank you from Pete to Mick, for being such a close friend to him.
He passed quickly, with less than a year between diagnosis of cancer and the exit from this plane... but during the time I knew him, I found him to be very passionate about his work, both his music and his art, which graces the cover. This, along with a passion that he had for life, is reflected in the music on this disc. I will carry the memories I have of Pete with me as I go, and listen to his music to feel his presence again.
For the fans... Pete was working on a few new things that don't appear on this disc, including a project with his son. From what I heard of these tracks, you may be hearing from his son sometime in the future, the music sounded promising.
