Album Description

Debut release for Philadelphia's An Albatross whose live performances are described as equal parts disco bomb threat, Appalachian snake-handling church service & James Brown Live At The Apollo. Their music is unquestionably attention-span friendly with unbelievably short, complex, infectious bursts. 11 tracks. Ace Fu. 2003.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars hipster trash. .......2006-03-21

This band is not good, this band is not talented. This band makes simple annoying music that scene turds harp on. Get over it, get over this band, they were a joke, and always will be, no matter how many tools listen to them. Congrats. If this album wasn't taken so seriously, maybe it would deserve a 3 for humor, but since this band is taken as a serious band, 1 star. Good day hipsters!

4 out of 5 stars SO GOOD.......2005-09-04

I love An Albatross and this album is amazing. Very fun noisegrind with vocals like Daughters. Only thing I don't like about their albms is that they are way to short. Besides the length this album is great!

2 out of 5 stars I'm Not Impressed, B.......2005-06-25

While An Albatross might be decent at what they do, they succeed in spades at beating a dead horse. A few listens and one can recall immediate contemporary influences such as The Locust, Mohinder, or from a classic band like Nervous Gender. To their credit, however, of all the cluttered groups in the underground, they are better than most. But I'm not impressed by that.

If you're expecting anything ahead of it's time, look elsewhere. This reeks of the same rehash from the ever so familiar post-Gravity Records era that is the bee knee's with today's hipper-than-thou imposters.

5 out of 5 stars Albatross is great but they aren't the Erm Bruffs.......2005-03-15

O you knows that Albatross is an awesome band...but, have you ever heard of the Erm Bruffs. Probably not, but you will. Combining raw power with wit, the Erm Bruffs blow the competition away. All's I have to say is "I AM THE IRON JAW."

5 out of 5 stars Vikings = Amazing.......2004-12-24

There is only one flaw with this record. The fact that it will cost you 10$ and only last as long as two average songs; 8 minutes of music, presented through 11 tracks, which result in me putting the whole album on repeat and listening to it a near-dozen times whenever it goes on.

An Albatross are very good at what they do, in a more pop way. If you are new to the noise punk genre, start here and then work your way through Ex-Models and Arab On Radar to Daughters and the Locust if you like bands like the Blood Brothers. You can eventually evolve up to the Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower or Fear Before the March of Flames if that's your bag.
