Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Fun music, especially for a party featuring tequila.......2005-05-07

I don't know if I would have ever bought a Billy Bacon CD if I hadn't seen them in concert. It's not very sophisticated music, but it sure is fun, and funny. More fun live than you can imagine until you've experienced them. I first heard them on vacation in the Clearwater Beach area, and I ended up buying a number of their CDs to relive that night, but this remains their best CD. I used to work at a restaurant called the "Texas Star Fajita Bar," and we played it frequently there, though it got on the bartender's nerves. It's Spanglish, Tex-mex-gringo inspired, cerveza-drinking party music, nothing more, nothing less. Play this at your next Cinqo-de-Mayo party, and make sure your guests go home in cabs, not driving.

5 out of 5 stars Unsurpassed Fun....!.......2003-10-25

I just saw these guys for the first time. The show was OFF THE FUN SCALE. So much talent and humor jam packed into this trio that you will have a hard time resisting the urge to buy more of their catalogue. Their band website is a must see as well.

5 out of 5 stars Party On the Patio.......2003-06-07

This album is probably my favorite of all of theirs. We've all got songs we like and don't like, but this one seems to have everything I REALLY like of Billy Bacon and The Forbidden Pigs.
You can hear how they've improved from album to album, but no matter which album you get, you will not be disappointed. These guys are the real thing! If you remember that old standby of "Hey Baby Que Paso" by The Texas Tornadoes, then you're getting the right idea. Other influences they've had are Sir Doug Sahm, Joe King Carrasco, and Joe Walsh (of The Eagles).
Until you've seen a Pigs show, you been going to the wrong concerts. Where else do you think you're gonna see Jerry "Hotrod" DeMink sitting on top of Billy's shoulders while both are playing? Or how about Billy lying on the floor, playing his standup bass over him, while Hotrod surfs on top laying down excellent fretwork? And then there's the music! More than enough to get you moving on the dance floor with your favorite chica and get her all happy! "Aye, Papichulo!" I've seen them play in the House of Blues in Chicago, Austin, and El Paso. Every single show is outstanding!

5 out of 5 stars Brian Setzer's Opening Band Rocks!.......2001-09-15

Billy Bacon swings & croons -- HotRod Demink rocks and grooves...
If you like the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Stray Cats, Royal Crown Revue, etc... you will love Billy Bacon and his "Pigs." Billy Bacon & the Forbidden Pigs really cook in live performances. Every one of the trio's CD's is extremely fun to listen to, even if the band does have a tendency to recycle their old favorites on most releases. Look for them if you ever visit San Diego-- the Pigs' hometown.
