5 out of 5 stars white ladder.......2001-02-19

For any readers not familiar with David Grey, many think his accent is Irish or English..it is Welsh...he is an an incredible poet! His voice sounds like a cross between Paul Simon and Bobby Dylan..if you love wonderful, memorable lyrics you will fall in love with the skills of this wonderful performer...In love or not he will captivate you with a beautiful array of soft and upbeat vocals...you can't stop listening to him once you've listened once and you'll tell everyone you know about David...especially sweet is "This Years Love" ..don't miss it!

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant.......2000-06-11

I've never written a review of an album on Amazon before, but I just got my copy of Flesh, and I feel like I need to spread the word. This album is brilliant. It covers the entire spectrum, from beautiful acoustic ballads (Coming Down), to driving folk-rock (What are you?, Made Up My Mind). I would recommend this album, without hesitation, to anyone who enjoys the music of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, or even bands like the Counting Crows, or the Dave Matthews Band.

5 out of 5 stars BEST CD OF ALL TIME! OH YEAH........2000-05-31

Don't be a sucka. Get this album! It is the bestalbum of all time, with the best song of all time, "NewHorizon's". I have to skip over about half of the tracks because they are so inspirational/meaningful that I feel I have to save them. This album has a little bit of everything-cynicism, joy, reality, love, clarity, hope, and promise.... To David and his fans, get into this album. This is his/your masterpiece. It is well worth the price tag and a best kept secret....

5 out of 5 stars A million miles beyond what science understands..........2000-05-10

Some of the songs on this are simply wondrous, especially the first side of my tape... First heard him playing live on the radio (a guitar backed falling free), but he still has a deep emotional bite on record. An inspiration.

5 out of 5 stars Passionate, firey, wonderful.......2000-04-23

I was lucky enough to catch "Coming Down" on the radio one day -- the only time I ever heard it or anything else of David Grey's played on the radio. I taped the song and fell in love with it -- it's simply my favorite song of the 1990s, period.

I spent a lot of time tracking the album down, and it was well worth it. Every track contains the same degree of passion and intensity as the one I heard. Of Mr. Grey's first three albums, this one probably has the most varied sound, ranging across piano, acoustic guitar, electric, and some beautiful acoustic slide guitar. The mood is mostly warm and intimate -- I frequently play this album on cold winter nights, when it adds a definate warmth to the air. My only complaint is that David's accent -- heavily British -- comes through very clearly even when singing, and it can get old at times. But it's a very minor complaint. The passion overrides such technical concerns.
