Album Description

BUY OUR INTENTION; WE'LL BUY YOU A UNICORN is the heavily anticipated follow-up to the 2003 independent release of Did You Know People Can Fly? and marks the auspicious debut of KADDISFLY on Hopeless Records. The album is a distinct evolution of the band's art: intelligent, passionate and engaging. "Once you listen to KADDISFLY, experience their live show, and see their artwork, it is clear that the band has their own vision rooted in authentic creativity and experience," says Louis Posen, Founder and President of Hopeless Records. "We feel you will be challenged, inspired and moved by their genuine unique view of music and art. Don't let this scare you...if you like punk, indie rock, metal, jam bands, jazz and more...you will love them." The band also just finished filming the video for "New Moon Over Swift Water" which is scheduled for release in this spring. The band-directed clip features high concept haunting imagery, a vivid performance and sub-titles.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A solid release!.......2006-08-12

I was pretty hyped about this release from one of the more unique sounding bands on the Hopeless records camp. I see all these reviews commenting on the familiar style of this band. I think I can pinpoint it to sounding like a fresh punk mixture of Incubus and that old band (if anyone remembers these guys) Simon Says. Incredible sounding stuff. This album has that aura about it that it's freshness and excitement won't wear off anytime soon.

5 out of 5 stars This is what art is really about.......2006-04-29

I had first heard Kaddisfly through a demo.....an aweomse demo, I might add. However, when I got to that one track on the whole CD, Kaddisfly's song (which was New Moon.... by the way) I could've sworn that I had heard the song before. I thought about it but I came to realize that I never had. The only reason it sounded so familiar was because the sound had the feel of an environment that agrees with all of your sences. It painted a mental picture of a place that was your own and the sounds were as if you yourself had created them. I was blown away. I went out right away and bought that album. I was amazed by what I heard. It was even better than what I could've imagined. The entire CD was diverse. There's a song on this album for everyone in the family. Ever since, there has not been one person I introduced to this band that hasn't agreed with me. This band not only incorperates music into their art, but in a successful attempt to appeal to every sense possible, Kaddisfly inlcudes visual art to complement the audio potrion of the album. True art appeals to as many senses as possible and Kaddisfly, as artists, try to do just that. You can almost take the music comming out of the speakers.
The most important aspect, I believe, there is to Kaddisfly, is the aspect of their messages. The lyrics contain messages that have been removed from our society and need very much to be reintroduced. There are messages of love, peace, understanding, forgiveness, and happiness saturating the songs on this album. I truly believe that these messages need to be exposed to the world and who better than Kaddisfly to do it?

5 out of 5 stars Five Stars means a lot..........2006-03-06

I regard Five Stars as the biggest compliment you can give to an album. An album that encapcuates what music is all about...One that is always at the back of your mind. It reminds you how powerful music can be. This is exactly what this album does for me, but more. I preordered it, not expected anything at all. I even listened to it a few times and only liked a few tracks, dismissing it as some mediocere release by another indie band. But then you start to get it. Song by song, instrument by vocal, you start to realize, this is it! The lyrics, the art, the emotions, the songwriting, they all connect, and you have a piece of art nothing short of incredible. A review won't do this justice, but if you are willing to be patient and just listen, you'll get an album that gives you chills everytime you hear it. Each song is incredible. Heck, even a year from first listening to it, I'm finding new things I love about with each listen. I won't go into details about the actual style, and compare Kaddisfly to other bands, because they are just Kaddisfly. Anyone who doesn't like this cd just doesn't get it, or hasn't listened to it enough. And for this band, this release is just the beggining. Game Over music: Buy Our Intention, We'll Buy You A Unicorn is here!

5 out of 5 stars Great Album, best in my collection!.......2006-02-06

Wow, I'm very impressed with this effort. I'd heard of Kaddisfly a couple of years ago with their singles Midnight in Shanghai, Manhattan Loves You, and Vacation on an Invisible Plane. When the new album dropped I rushed to pick it up hoping it would live up to those singles. I found out their new material was much better than before and now this CD is the most favored in my collection. Tracks like "For the Ejection of Rest, They'll Dance", and "Five Years from a Carpenter's Eye" show great songwriting skills and production. The album's two most "mainstream" singles, "New Moon Over Swift Water" and "La Primera Natural Disaster" are catchy, well-written, well-produced tracks that I listen to over and over again. "Set Sail the Prairie" and "Eres Tremulent" are also great tracks. Go ahead and pick this album up, it's great. If you like Incubus sounds, they're close, with better lyrics and production.

5 out of 5 stars So flippin' good!.......2005-11-26

Seriously! This album is one of those rare treasures you just find and cherish all your life! I discovered these guys by surfing specific genres on a music website. I found a certain band whose genre's were listed as "Rock/progressional/experimental" which is in my oppinion one of the perfect combinations! Kaddisfly is an incredible band who isn't tied down by any specific genres and each and every song they've ever written is in no way a copy of anyone elses or their own songs. It still amazes me everytime I listen to this CD how so diverse and different each song is from eachother. Even some songs change so much within themselves it's astounding. Being a giant fan of Progressive Rock, you can imagine how joyous I was and am whenever I listen to this CD. It also amazes me how exceptionally great each song is, since they're all so different. Each and every band member is brilliantly talented and passionate and it shows. This CD is seriously something to be treasured forever and I plan to do just that, hopfully I convinced you to do so as well. By the way, many people compare these guys to Dredg and well... Kaddifly is so much better than Dredg. Dredg is good and all, don't get me wrong, but Kaddisfly kicks Dredg out of the water! No joke! It's very comforting to see that this world still has a place for TRUE progressive rock. I highly recommend this album.
Peace,
