Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars An Aging But Still Rebellious Rocker Opines.......2000-04-23

This Northern VA pop-punk band rocks! Very Classy represents substantial progress from Anne Summers' initial album, with much improved production, expanded instrumentation, and a contiuation of interesting song structure with intelligent lyrics. How many recent pop albums begin with three great songs that show versatility and inventiveness? If you are a fan of alternative pop, such as the early work of Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson, check out this Very Classy second effort.

Live music fans seeking a rocking experience should hear this band, before they are discovered. I have seen them in concert at least ten times over the past four years and they always deliver the goods!

5 out of 5 stars Totally the coolest guys in the world!.......2000-04-07

Ok, ok, so I don't actually HAVE the album, but last night, I saw the guys in concert at my school, and they totally rocked my world! All their songs were dance worthy, and I can't remember when I've had so much fun at a concert! They were funny and the songs were awesome! They were even nice enough to give me their autographs on an actual song line-up paper! Anne Summers kicks!

5 out of 5 stars Energetic, happy, catchy.......2000-03-14

I was really impressed! I loved this album on the first listen. Good tunes, interesting instrumentation, and lyrics that resonate. The best songs are Surprise Party, Conrad Takes on the World, King of Disaster, Uh-huh Oh-no, Real Life, Ditch Digger. The keyboard on Surprise Party is excellent. Really fun but emotionally real music.

5 out of 5 stars Baring the soul of a generation.......2000-03-11

Evocative lyrics and a range of musical styles combine to make this "power pop" album an instant classic. Themes range from the banality of the 9-to-5 lifestyle in "Real Life" to an emotionally compelling descent into personal relationships gone bad in "Octoberfest" and "Surprise Party". This is a band that bares every aspect of its soul -- and the soul of a generation -- whether sacred, profane, beautiful, or tragic.
