Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Take IIt as it Comes.......2006-07-05

Take the Fall's "This Nation's Saving Grace" and pump it up with hardcore aggression without losing the intelligence and you have this album. The liner notes are enlightening. Earlier attempts at noise rock such as "The Gift of Life" failed because they lacked coherence. Enter Steve Albini. This is the best album Steve Albini (Big Black, Shellac) ever produced in that in this album he was able to get across what he was trying to express without running into a record exec. who decide to add touches at the end to water it down. I don't know what to call this "post punk", "post hardcore", who cares? Like the Electric Eels, The Stooges "Funhouse", etc. you just play it loud, roll with the punches and worry about which category of your cd collection to place it in after.
