Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of their bests!.......2007-01-18

Underwater People is one of their bests! The only problem with it is that it's too short. The live versions of My Town and Giants are great! Also, there's the amazing Moonlit Treese, which was recorded in 1987. Jeep MacNichol's great on that one. Like other reviewers said, if you're new to The Samples, get their debut album, "No Room" or "The Last Drag", bacause this one's an EP.

By the way, I'm not a kid. I just use the kid's review so I don't have to give out my email.

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT.......2004-10-29

This is a great collection of Samples songs, some live and some studio including a song originally recorded in 1987! This is the original Samples lineup at its best. The live versions of "My Town" and "Giants" will blow you away, check out guest performance by Branford Marsalis on "Giants". Only 8 songs but all of them are great. Check out Jeep's drumming on song #6, Moonlite Tree, unbelievable. These guys are some of the best musicians out there.

5 out of 5 stars only thing better than listening was to be there.......2002-05-01

As other reviewers mentioned, this set of recordings reflects a time when The Samples were at a peak of synergy, focus, and positive social activism. The only thing better than listening to the CD was to be there at Tulagi's in Boulder on the nights a bulk of the live tracks were recorded!

5 out of 5 stars If only the Samples were still this good........2000-02-17

Recorded right when the Samples hit their prime, this album captivates what they were all about in the old days.

The sound is so new, fresh, and original. The live takes of "Giants" and "After the Rain" will make you never want to hear the studio versions of these songs again.

While listening to this album, you can almost feel the youth, energy, and talent this band had back in the old days

My only complaints with this album is that its too short and I get frustrated by the fact I never saw them live back in the early '90s. Its just not the same anymore.

I wouldn't buy this unless you own at least one other Samples album, and you enjoy it at least a little bit.
