2003 reissue of the heavy metal hard rock act's debut, originally released in 1996 on Alfa Music in Japan. The album features the vocal talents of two of the most renowned singers in today's rock world, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) & John Wetton (Asia). Glenn Hughes especially shines on the blistering opening rocker 'King of the Western World' & the heart-wrenching ballad 'Cryin' For Love' whereas John Wetton excels on many, just check out the extremely catchy 'Flesh 'n' Blood'. The overall result - 'No Strings Attached' is a crunchy melodic hard rock album which explores the boundaries of all avenues of rock, even classic guitar rock music as is apparent on the interpretation of Khatchaturian's 'Sabre Danse Macabre' & on passionate instrumentals such as 'White Island (Celina)' & 'Revenge'. With sixteen tracks on offer this album is a great showcase for guitarist Bill Liesegang (Nina Hagen, Kingdom Come, Harlan Cage), & it will go towards placing him in a class of his own. A GREAT SURPRISE!!!.......2004-07-15

I bought this CD because of the presence of Glenn Hughes,I know that if he is in it is good stuff. For my surprise not only Hughes makes it a good CD but John Wetton and of couse Liesegang are very good and in the end I got an excellent selection of good hard rock songs. If you are a hard rock fan you must have this CD.

Although his name may not sound that familiar, Billy Liesegang is a very talented guitar, bass and keyboard player who has worked with acts such like 101 South, Harlan Cage, Joal, Kingdom Come and Rod Stewart. Luckily enough "No Strings Attached" (which was originally released in 1996) is only partially instrumental (9 out of 16 tracks). What makes this album really interesting to me (and I hope a lot of you out there as well) are indeed the vocal tracks, performed by Glenn Hughes ("King Of The Western World", "Crying For Love" and "The Night Will Soon Be Gone"), John Wetton ("Flesh And Blood" and "The Thrill Of It All") and the relative unknown Tony Thurlow ("Live By The Gun" and "Dogs Of War"). The best vocal performance comes from John Wetton, while Glenn Hughes just confirms and Tony Thurlow slightly disappoints with his high and screaming voice. As far as the instrumental tracks are concerned, all I can say is that they are all performed with a lot of passion, which places Liesegang in a class of his own. He even ventured doing a rock version of the classic "Khatchaturian", called "Sabre Danse Macabre". To sum things up: "No Strings Attached" is a good album, but as far as I'm concerned, the next one may contain more vocal tracks than this one. (CL)
