Techno Dance a la Xymox.......2006-08-23

The last of the dance albums by Xymox, this one is darker than their last few albums and hints at the return to their original sound which is done much better in subsequent albums. A great album for a Halloween dance, with just enough "slow" songs to encourage the wall flowers to slow dance. Not my favorite work, but interesting in an evolutionary way. Like most Xymox albums, this one sounds best at night. Try it with the top down ripping along a lonely stretch of highway. Warning: If you are depressed or recently ended a relationship, this album will hit you right between the eyes. It feels great, but it hurts as well. You know what I mean. Indulge yourself and check it out. Just be sure to refill your medication and hide the knives.

Clan of Xymox is one of my favorite goth bands in recent years. I just love Ronny Mooring's deep, hypnotic vocals. He reminds me of Sisters of Mercy's Andrew Eldritch at times. I recently bought the band's last studio album "Farewell" after I heard samples of the title track on their MySpace page. I don't know why I didn't buy this cd when it first came out three years ago but I am glad I finally did. As much as I enjoyed "Notes From the Underground", I definitely found "Farewell" to be a much stronger effort. I love the blend of goth melodies and EBM beats on the cd. The production is impeccable. I can hear Ronny's voice very clearly. The title track is easily my favorite song with its beautiful lyrics like "Farewell affectionate brothers, you won't see me again". Another great song is "There's No Tomorrow" with its pounding dance beats, searing guitar licks, and Ronny's vocals making for a killer combination. There wasn't a single song on the entire cd that I didn't care for. All of them are excellent.

another exceptional Clan of Xymox release........2006-01-30

Ronny Moorings returns with another exceptional Clan of Xymox release. As much as I like past CoX releases, this Farewell CD is the best yet. While this is an overall gothic recording, the use of electronic programming is greater than ever before.

The songs are made up of frantic sequencing, heavy bass beats, guitars, haunting melodies and Moorings' great deep and clear singing. Most of the tracks are energetic and would be great out on the dance floor. The biggest surprise is the synth-pop direction Moorings took with some of the songs. These especially stand out in my opinion, and I would like see Moorings go more this direction in the future with CoX.

In addition to some dark synth-pop style tracks, there's gothic rock and darkwave songs included on the CD as well. The gothic rock tracks are less electronic and more guitar heavy. And the darkwave songs are a little too slow for my tastes, but the inclusion of female backing vocals is a nice touch.

There's a good helping of variety on this CD, and it all works well together. I personally enjoy the electronic club tracks the most, but I find everything delivered here enjoyable overall. If you like gothic music of any kind, this CD can't be missed.

better than anything before and I mean it. This band is not affraid to innovate themselves and at the smae time not afraid to go back to their roots once and a while. A great , great masterpiece!

There is no tomorrow without Clan Of Xymox for sure. This album contains the perfect balance for me, a motion trip from here to eternity. Simply beautiful songs , catchy tunes , danceable tracks, heartfelt songs, in short a masterpiece.
