Hot off the heels of the recent 'Boxing Hefner' collection and last years acclaimed 'Fidelity Wars'. It benefits from a more sophisticated production than previous records, adding brass to help deliver more classic pop. Features guest vocalist, Amelia Fletcher (Heavenly). Customer Reviews:
We Love The City? It NEVER Lets Us Down!!.......2001-05-29
I have every Hefner CD except singles and 7 inches. I could listen to them everyday. We Love The City is no better or worse than any previous Hefner release. Every CD this band releases is unbelievable and I grind my teeth every day trying to figure out why they are so unheard of. We Love The City just adds more pepper to sugar in my Hefner collection...Darren, keep doing what you are doing!!
Songs about (Unattainable) Girls.......2001-03-11
Hefner is directly descended from the literate, lovelorn lyrics of the Wedding Present and Modern Lovers. I saw them live in '96, and was immediately hooked. Jangly, driving guitar rhythms, a singer on the edge of hope and heartbreak, songs about girls just out of reach; its a basic formula, but one which they've continued to find new variations. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an intelligent alternative to what passes for pop today.
