Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Gee, it's good to have Cass back again...........2003-08-22

I have to admit, I was already a fan of Cass McCombs having heard the 'not the way' ep. I couldn't help but be reminded of a young Bob Dylan in some way after giving 'not the way' many, many listens....that rollicking Dylan phase that produced 'Highway 61 Revisited' and 'Blonde On Blonde'. I'm not saying that Cass sounds like a Dylan rip off...i mean who does? There's just something similiar, maybe it's the laid back yet sharp songs, along with a voice that sounds like no one else. 'A' is even more playful than 'not the way' and there's more to love. The songs are still have a very similiar feel to them. I highly recommend both of his releases. Cass McCombs already has a sound that seems to be all his own, even the recording is very original. I have to go back and listen to 'A' again. I can't seem to get the songs out of my head.
