Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Comic sixties pop of variable quality.......2003-10-10

The Scaffold, a Liverpool group, were not a serious pop group at all, but they had a few truly brilliant songs. However, their sense of humor and mine are not always the same so there are actually only a few of their songs that I enjoy. I make plenty of use of the skip button when I play Scaffold music - they are unique in that respect.

Their biggest UK hit was Lily the Pink, a nonsense song about a lady and her medicinal compounds that topped the charts of Christmas 1968. Another huge hit was Thank u very much, a top five UK hit the year before.

My favorite song is Do you remember, which was only a minor hit. It is a song that evokes memories of walks in the countryside (no, it's not a country song, but I'd like to hear a country version of it) and other pleasant times.

Their other great songs include Liver birds (the theme to a TV comedy series of the same title), Gin gan goolie (a minor hit) and a cover of Liverpool Lou. The quality of the other songs varies considerably and how many you like will depend on your sense of humor, although I'll be surprised if you like them all.
