Album Description

This collection compiles just about all the band's hard-to-find singles and compilation tracks and makes an excellent starting point, with many of their finest songs all in one place.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Clever, catchy, literate punk-pop: what more do you want?.......1999-06-29

This album samples Nothing Painted Blue's oeuvre of singles, which run the gamut from lo-fi rockers like "Few" that sound like they were recorded through a dustbuster (this is a *good* thing) to masterpieces like "Swivelchair" or "Another Child Bride." Through the course of the album you can hear Franklin Bruno's lyrics grow more sophisticated (though the early "Go to Waste" is still terrific) and the entire band's playing get tighter and more varied. The live "Bonus Track" is a treat, finally revealing to the patient listener the kernel of the band's essence. One of my favorite bands of the past decade -- indie smartasses, indeed!
