Album Description

Debut EP by a brand new four-piece outfit from Sacramento! Post-punk meets mathematical neu-prog meets pop, tipping their collective hat towards the sounds of Yes, Boy's Life and The Smiths. With a handful of West Coast tours under their belts (including dates with Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Walkmen, Nada Surf, The Joggers and more), Mister Metaphor will tour the U.S. from July to August 2004, and have plans to hit the road a few more times before the year is up.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars this band is excellent.......2004-08-08

describing mr. metaphor has always been a pretty tough thing for me to do. on the outside, they seem like a pretty typical indie rock group. afro here, british-looking guy there, scrawny dudes all over. then you hear the beginning of a song and that idea stays there. but about twenty seconds later, when they suddenly pull some amazing musical switches, you realize they're so much more than an indie rock group.
they're a musical juggernaut, capable of fusing even the most unlikely combinations of riffs together with relative ease. and it's so technical. it's like prog meets indie meets pop meets whatever you want to call bands that sound like at the drive in. yet mr. metaphor manages to expand upon all of this to create something altogether greater than the sum of its parts.
the only downside is, no matter how much energy you hear on this disc, it doesn't come close to rivaling the energy you'll find at their live show.
