Album Description

Formed by eight proud street hoodlums and hailing from the Irish mecca of Boston, The Kings Of Nuthin' are an unlikely punk rock outfit equipped with the instrumentation of a full piece rhythm & blues band from the fifties - an upright bass, a horn section, piano player, guitarist, lead singer, and even a washboard player! Well known across the East Coast for their out of control live sets The Kings Of Nuthin' are a unique blend of psychobilly. Imagine the result of Bill Haley & The Comets or Little Richard and the Upsetters growing up in a punk rock environment, acquiring the drinking habits of Charles Bukowski, and hammering out their songs at twice the required speed. Fight Songs is The Kings' second album. 15 tracks. Disaster. 2002.

5 out of 5 stars So Good-!.......2006-02-25

I caught the Kings Of Nuthin' a couple of years ago when they opened up for the Ducky Boys. Their live performrance just blew me away and I ordered it soon after the show and I was hooked with it for a long time. The instrumentation is very profesisonal and the production is much more superior, compared to their previous record "Get Busy Livin' or Get Busy Dyin'." I like the instrumental song "La Chupacabra" because it provides a good combination of piano, guitar, bass (so heavy here), and hones. Most songs are fast-driving and enjoyable. There are also songs like "Callin' To Let You Know" and "Nuthin' To Lose", which is slow and give us a good chill. I cannot wait until I grab a new CD "Over The Counter Culture" because it should be great after hearing a couple of sample songs. I would say that the Kings of Nuthin' should not limited their fan base to punk scene, but they have a potential to widen their audience in general because their music deserves a good reputation among majority! For the fans of Rock N' Roll, Jazz, Blues, Ska, and Punk, this album is crucial.

2 out of 5 stars Okay band, but...........2005-05-08

These guys have a lot of potiential and a good stage show and this album shows that they will probably keep getting a bigger following....but these guys aren't all from boston and some ain't Irish either....thus by lying about such things they lose quite a bit of steet cred...tell the truth New Hampshire boyz!

5 out of 5 stars Rockabilly with a hard edge.......2002-09-27

This is a great CD. The Kings of Nuthin are a high energy live band that really capture an audience. They basically are a rockabilly band going full force fronted by a Boston punk/hc guy. The result is a truly unique and wonderful sound. I think the material was better on their previous album. However, this album captures the energy of their live show much better. I've been giving this one some heavy listening.
