S.T.U.N.'s The Evolution Of Energy is REVOLUTIONARY.......2005-02-25
This cd is amazing. This is not the repetative drone of mediocrity and bands writing music to fit the market. Mixed with brilliant lyrics and a revolutionary sound say maybe what The Clash would have sounded like now if they were young....This cd is a breath of fresh air. This cd is proof that good music still exists and that good bands will continue amidst the grind of machine like mainstream prosthetic forgetable bands.

Strident and preachy...like a bumper sticker .......2005-01-01
I suppose it's a question of age and experience. In this 21st century there is a clarion call for YOUTH to OUESTION AUTHORITY(!), FIGHT THE SYSTEM(!) and idolize those who seem to stand and RAGE against the NEW WORLD ORDER of corporate/military NEO-CON monsters who threaten EARTH's very existance and our survival as free thinking beings stoned on TRUTH. Sound familiar??
Harken back to the 60's and the Detroit proto-punk of the MC5. Their music catered to a wide diverse spectrum of people; rockers, stoners, fugitives, parolees, freaks,Hells Angels,White Panthers,Black Panthers, politicos, they were the personification of so-called spontaneous "street theatre"...I mean it was the scene that was the HAPPENING,not the group per se.
S.T.U.N. comes across as a band that tries too hard at being RELEVANT.The lyrics are stuffed with bumper sticker cliches, shouted at the listener in a monotonous US vs THEM diatribe. They never elevate themselves above all those Global conspiracy placards so evident during demonstrations in our last Presidential election. "Let's all wear our ANARCHY t-shirts","off the pigs" and give the news reporters scary flashbacks. If this is your "cup a tea" BROTHERS and SISTERS have at it.
What these young'uns need is a few years behind bars if they think they're so tuff and world-weary,...yeah...that'll sharpen their perspective on what is and what is not.
Dissapointing .......2004-12-01
I tried listening to the Evolution of Energy over and over, hoping to like it and pretend that I didn't waste $10... I found it boring, with repetitive guitar riffs and similar sounding songs. It's lacking in creativity and interesting melodies. The Evolution of Energy sounds like the generic and mainstream music so popular right now, and even though S.T.U.N. isn't incredibly well known it sure sounds like it. That being said, these guys have the potential to make it big. (I do like the singer's energy and voice, and that's about it.) The lyrics were really simple and I didn't think that they really made that great a statement, rather just a repetitive call for revolution, but I guess the lyrics would be okay if they had more talent musically. Just like someone else said, they had some moments that were similar to RATM, but really fell short- spare yourself from this "PUNKROCK" cd.
This is not music..........2004-06-25
My friends told to go buy this cd because they said it rocks.
I bought it but didn't listen to it right away... I opted to go see them live with my friends instead. They told me it was punk rock, so I hesitated. But I finally went to see them, cause my friends were going. After the show, I left the place with a nice little thought in my head. HOW THE HECK CAN THIS BE CONSIDERED MUSIC? I understand that punk rock in the style of S.T.U.N is more concentrated in delivering a message than quality music. But come on guys, what you're delivering is confusing music, music that extremely hurts my ears (too dissonant, wild), music that is dull. I have no complains whatsoever when it comes to the lyrics. It's up to them... Musically though, I would suggest those boys to practice a little (actually a LOT) more and develop their chops a bit higher. I know that they want to play chaotically, but live, it's just too much. Unbearable. Those "musicians" should start practicing a bit more. NOW!!!
Plus, I'm sure Neil Spies can't even play in alternate picking...
S.T.U.N. backwards isn't T.I.H.S. (but it should be)!.......2004-01-18
This band is SO punk rock! I luv seeing hella political bands spreading The Message through such non-corporate underground forums like the Warped Tour and Geffen records! When Christiane J. (a dude so threatening to the government he has to use a pseudonym as to avoid incarceration) bawls about the upcoming revolution, I'm totally down with that! It's sorta like, I think the revolution must be now, especially when these ultra-insurrectionists proclaim, "Watch the Rebellion Grow!" Yeah, buddy!
Some scary old guy at Tower (the local underground place I get all my music from) told me that this band is deserving of infinite hate and scorn for covering "Reuters." I don't remember the band he said who did that first, but who cares? He also said that today you see STUN on MTV but that tomorrow you'll see them in the bargain bin. I don't think he knows anything! He's obviously not into this whole indie/punk rawkness, y'know? I don't see him at Hot Topic or watching the X Games, nor do I see him wearing an AFI beanie. I bet the fool doesn't even own a studded belt!
