5 out of 5 stars The definitive Nolans hits collection.......2005-03-01

Originally billed as the Nolan Sisters, this Irish group first made an impact on the British public via television. Their first album, 20 giant hits, was a collection of covers of UK pop hits. After that, their albums were a mix of covers and original material, which yielded eight UK hits. While that covers album was an easy listening collection, their subsequent music was lightweight, danceable pop music.

Their first hit, Spirit body and soul, only made the thirties but their remaining hits all made the top twenty. I'm in the mood for dancing, their second single, was a top three hit while Gotta pull myself together and Attention to me also made the top ten. Don't make waves, Who's gonna rock you, Chemistry and Don't love me too hard complete their UK chart history.

This is the definitive collection of Nolans music, containing all their hits as well as many other great tracks. Another compilation, Super hits, contains ten of these tracks including the eight hits, so if you only want the hits and nothing else, you can save yourself some money by buying that instead.

5 out of 5 stars "Greatest Hits"??.......2005-02-13

This is as near to an 'official' Nolans' Greatest Hits as you will probably get! All their hits from the 'Epic' years are here (except Dressed To Kill unfortunately!), plus lots of tracks which have never been released on CD before! All the tracks are the original tracks (there are loads of Nolans' CD's availabe where the classic tracks have been re-worked), even 'Spirit, Body & Soul' - sorry Trevor, it's the original here, which Linda sang! Anne sang it on the re-recorded versions, usually available on the aforementioned re-worked CD's. It's such a shame that the girls didn't get the same recognition in the USA, that they did in the rest of the world, particularly the UK and Japan.

5 out of 5 stars How Did The U.S. Miss These Gals?.......2002-02-25

Of all the absolutely infectious sounds I ever heard while I lived in Europe in the early 80's, the Nolans are the most memorable. Admittedly not a sound for everyone, but if you like pure pop with soaring melody and harmony, these gals have got it. (Have you noticed how beautiful every single one of them is by the way?) I would most quickly compare them with ABBA, yet with more danceability, and - dare I say? - more refined vocals. Granted, English was more readily spoken in their native Ireland than in ABBA's native Sweden, but there is more of a warmth and sincerity. I stopped apologizing long ago for listening to ABBA and to the Nolans, and with one listen to this collection you will too.
