Crowded House fans who aren't content to settle for a Neil Finn solo album every few years may well appreciate Joe 90. The four-piece band's debut, Dream This, offers a similar meld of thoughtful lyrics and catchy, vibrant pop-rock marked by Chris Seefried's ever-so-slightly sandpapery vocals. Appealing on first listen, the disc reveals depth after a few plays; while tracks such as "Ferris Wheel" and "Mascara" rely as much on craft as art, they're also hard to say no to. A healthy measure of the Lennonesque also makes the likes of "Truth" and "Super Hero" sound familiar while belonging very much to the group. --Rickey Wright

5 out of 5 stars Pop perfect.......2002-01-06

Every once in a while a CD comes along that has some magical endearing quality that you fall in love with on first listen. Dream This is such a CD. Release on the doomed from the start E Pluribus Unum label (owned by fake dreadlocked Adam Duritz). Dream This is a pop record has more hooks than an episode of the fishing show on ESPN 2. "Ferris Wheel" starts off the fun and the album cycles through every different emotion you can feel through Chris Seefried's nicotine stained vocals and Beatle-esque music. By the time you get to the CD closer "Just A Dream" you wonder if it really was a dream that a pop record could be this good.

Highlights: "November Bombs", "Truth", "Drive", "Just A Dream", "Ferris Wheel" & "Look"

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Upcoming Band!!!!!!.......2001-08-04

"Dream This" is a wonderful album to listen to. They are on adam duritz's (counting crows) record label, "E Pluribus Unum" along with another incredible underrated band, the "Gigolo Aunts". If you want to try out a new band, then buy "Dream This". It will amaze you. They actually care about their fans.

3 out of 5 stars Must See Live Band.......2000-08-31

I also caught this band live (w/ J.Tull)and it turned out to be one of those rare double bills where both bands are excellent. Joe 90 Live are a powerhouse of catchy tunes, lead guy Chris Seefried reminscent of Jim Morrison by looks, and Jimmy Page by guitar. The album is significantly toned down from the live set, which is too bad, but still a fine first effort with songs like 'Drive' and 'Truth.' From the new material they played live, it sounds like their best is yet to come ('Bullet' etc.) and hopefully they will do a live album before too long. For now, see them live and bring a tape recorder.
