Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars It's 1976 and Out of the Blue comes another masterpiece!.......2007-04-10

A year in the making, this is Eltons magnum opus. It takes a few listens to get used to the "mid-70's discoey sound" but the songs are among his best and he really pours out his soul here. By the way, according to Elton, this is still "his" favorite album, thats enough reason alone to check it out.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't include all of the songs of the original.......2005-11-10

I plan on buying this album on CD (to replace my old vinyl copy), but I noticed this version only has half of all the songs on the original. I'm going to make sure and order the more expensive 2-disk CD. Just a warning if you plan on buying the cheaper CD.

5 out of 5 stars I am between 17 and 20.......2004-04-02

At the time I wrote this review I was 18 1/2. I am between 17 adn twenty. There are two songs on this version, 'Between 17 and 20' and 'Wide eyed and laughing' which never ever get any mention or credit. One is a countrified, jamacanised folk song whihc has an amazing chorus which is almost a ballad, and it rages as passionately as the most passionate ballad. The song features a lovely organ and a realaxing verse. There's also countrified sounding electric guitar. The Wide eyed and Laughing is just way out there creativity that is always scoffed if not overlooked. It's a very calm folk song that features Davey on the Sitar, James Newton-Howard creating some swirling effect with the synthesisers and Ray Cooper on the Rototoms, very interesting. The backing vocalists are Crosby and Nash from the band with a similar name. It has avery intruiging melody and lyric. It's also my favourite song off 'Blue Moves' adn one of my all time favourite songs. 'Between 17 and 20' is my second favourite song off the double album. Those two songs alone on here get the five stars from me! Though most of the others, notably 'Idol' are also great if not fantastic.
