Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Don't miss this one!.......2003-04-04

I once saw the Gluey Brothers play live out in Jawbone Canyon. It was one of those all night EOM desert parties. The Gluey Brothers were amazing and they played 'til the sun came up.

Well now I see they have a release that's in DTS Surround. I just couldn't pass this up! The music is an intense blend of funk, rap and rock with a snide grin. And the production is immaculate. The closest I can come up with is the Red Hot Chili Peppers meet the Beastie Boys on nitrous, but really the Gluey Brothers are so much more.

Highly recommended

5 out of 5 stars most excellent dvd audio!.......2002-12-01

IT ROCKS!!! one problem,however.. the songs listed in your advertisement are not the songs on the disc.

5 out of 5 stars Surrounded by Glue!.......2001-08-22

The Glueys have always been riding the crest of the wave... pushing the boundaries of freedom, expression and the unalienable right to wear plaid. They have always mixed audio mediums (funk-punk-rap-rock-blues) with Vaudeville-like high performance art. This time they are breaking the surround sound barrier with DVD-Audio. This version of Stiff for the Elders is so much more than just a musical recording... it's an visual and audio experience. For starters, the record is presented in glorious DTS 5.1 surround with a mix that grabs you and won't let go. Unlike most recordings that are originally mastered in stereo and then remixed in 5.1, this one was mixed in surround from the start. It's an active mix with instruments and voices deliberately assaulting you from all angles. Anyone who has ever seen a Gluey show knows that they literally confront their audiences and this record is no different. You are involved! If you don't have a surround sound system... fear not, this DVD-A has plenty for you as well. It is also presented in regular stereo and will play on any DVD-Video player. It also plays perfectly on a computer as long as you have a DVD player built in. Each song has it's own menu screen with a multitude of wacky Gluey images that compliment the track. One of the coolest things about this disk is that it has about twenty minutes of video packed in there as well. The first video, 'Pure Human Power' is a twelve minute inside look at the band... a mini documentary if you will. It includes interviews and live footage from a number of different shows that gives you a real idea of what the Glueys are all about. The second video, 'The Orange Monster' is a home-spun music video presented in 5.1 surround that is so densely packed with oddball images and swirling through your brain audio that repeated viewings are mandatory. To get a true sense of what the Glueys are capable of, you need to see them live. This DVD-Audio disk however, is the next best thing to being there!
