Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars disappointing..........2004-05-15

i loved their live show and highly recommend seeing them, but this CD sounds nothing like it. i'll be waiting for their next album...

4 out of 5 stars 4 stars for their live effort.......2004-02-02

I just saw these guys at the Troubador with the Dirtbombs and wow was I amazed. Imagine the Black Keys sped up to playing 60's pop instead of blues, or the Rolling Stones via Out of Our Heads. Now the album itself doesn't deserve 4 stars, maybe 3 or 3.5 due to lack of production. After seeing them live I almost didn't recognize them from their CD. What is missing is that great rhythm organ (used weakly on their album), and most of all that outstanding voice I heard live. If the singer wailed on the album like he did during his show, I would crown this a 5 star album. Instead the vocals sound very plain one dimensional versus the soulful howl in concert. If you even seldomly like any of the Sights music then you must see them live because they sound 10x better.

5 out of 5 stars Finest Debut Since Citizen Kane.......2003-06-06

Finally, a Motor City band that has more than two members! On this brilliant sophomore effort, The Sights continue the Detroit Rock Revolution started five years ago by Kid Rock and Andrew WK. These guys sound like Clifton Chenier if he got his hands on a mellotron after listening to a steady diet of Big Star and Slayer. However the aspect of this album which truly elevates it to masterpiece status are the lyrics to "Sweet Little Woman" penned by Zachary Curd (check out his bass playing for the fabled, but short-lived Metros and his handclapping work on The Recital's last album). Personally, I just can't get over the line "Sweet little woman won't you be a friend of mine" Pure sexy and guttural genius. Hopefully, the Sights will continue to spread the gospel of rock n' roll and maybe next album they'll enlist Curd to pen all their lyrics.

4 out of 5 stars Great 60's UK throw back Rock&Roll.......2003-04-22

Picked up this album @ their Cactus Club show over the weekend. On first listen I liked what I heard, sometimes a little to bubblegummy Red Kross, but I know it will settle in after a few listens. I gotta tell ya the album doesn't compare to these guys live. These guys ROCK!!! Go check em out, that's an order! Support live music!
