Album Description

Kasim is one of my favorite bass players/singers, and this album is a collection of songs written, produced and sung by him. The songs have previously only been released to members of the Utopia fan club.
I felt this was an important album to have at Slick Music, and Kasim has graciously allowed us to bring it to you, so enjoy!
Earl Slick

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Better Quality Recordings Than Most Other Artists Of The Period!.......2006-12-28

Wonderful cd! Don't let the title fool you. While truly recorded in Kasim's home studios, these recordings are better quality than most music that was on the radio at the time.

OH, and BTW, Amazon doesn't really have this one in stock. (i tried to buy it!) If you try to order it, you will either get a message 'out of stock', or 'backordered'. With 'backordered', you'll wait a few weeks only to find out, it's not in stock!

You're best bet is to find one use, if that's possible!

5 out of 5 stars I love this CD - Buy it!!!!.......2006-02-20

It nearly took me ages to get this album but finally after more than 2 years I received my copy this weekend. The music is great. Kasim sounds so good on this album. I once bought the Quid pro Quo-Album in 2003 on the CHSIB-Meat Loaf-Tour and since then I've tried to buy The Basement Tapes. I especially love the song Don't Hold Me Back which is also in a different version on the QPQ-CD. Kasim you are great!!

Hear it and love it.

I use to have an old Kasim tape that Kas's brother Alex gave me....it included most of the songs on this cd and more...I played it until the tape turned white...one thing I will always remember is how raw and full of creative energy the songs possesed....love it....finally the "Basement Tapes" are made available to the public....this is a great collection of songs by a very talented man and cool guy....buy this CD today!!........oh.........I know the basement well!!

5 out of 5 stars An amazing collection by an amazing artist.......2002-08-15

This is THE album to own if you've heard Kasim with Todd Rundgren, Utopia or any other artist but were wondering what he sounds lke on his own. The man is talent personified!!

It's all Kasim, all the time. (Think Adventures in Utopia or Utopia the White Album, with Kasim singing all the lead vocals... it's just that good!) He wrote/co-wrote, sang, and played almost the entire disc on his own... My personal favorite = Give Him Up, catchy beat and fun lyrical twist. Second fave = Don't Hold Me Back, if you've heard it live then you understand! It's just the perfect vehicle for Kasim's voice...

If you are a Kasim/TR/Utopia fan, and you haven't heard this CD before, what are you waiting for? Grab it and enjoy!!
