4 out of 5 stars Classic Stuff.......2006-10-25

If you're a fan of Rock you'll like this album. Finally after years it was released on CD. Hopefully their follow up album RUNNERS IN THE NIGHT will be remastered.

Desmond, Maria, Diana and Mariam were 4 friends that got together and made some good music. Styles vaired from straight rock to the disco/rock hit "Our Love is Insane".
Though Child sang the majority of the lead vocals the ladies get to shine in their own tunes. Their is also an Amazing blend of their voices that becomes an instrument in itself. Child wrote of personal experiences and it shows in the passion of all their voices.

They appeared on Saturday Night Live in December of 1979, the Christmas show. They rocked out with "Goodbye, Baby" sung by Maria Vidal. On the debut album she gets to be sexy with "Lazy Love" and soulful on "Main Man". Each lady is unique with their vocals and it was too bad they didn't get more of a showcase within the group's recordings.

Too bad their wasn't a third album or even a live album. Live! they raise the energy level of their performances and shine even more.

4 out of 5 stars OUR LOVE IS INSANE.......2005-12-03

Malcolm Dome - who wrote the liner notes for this release - misses one VERY important thing. "Our Love Is Insane" was a smash smash smash hit in the NY area. It was #1 on the then 92 KTU station and played in every disco and on every radio station. One could not have their ears perk up at the opening bass line - as recognizeable as Chic's "Good Times" - it brought you in 30 seconds before the song began...and anyone experiencing even a tinge of love, lust, first time longing or romance sustaining power could not be drawn into the music, lyrics and vocals of this recording. A TRUE masterpiece.

The rest of the album is uneven - but very listenable and hardly embarassing as many of that era sound today. Desmond Child is a remarkable talent. "Main Man" he later gave to Cher for her "I Found Someone" album - and she took it most likely to the passionate heights he must have origanally written about - and that is what this album is about - beginnings. Desmond Child is an incredibly canny musical genius - and this is a remarkable beginning.
