Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Memories and influences.......2004-10-11

In the mid-60s just about every drummer got some inspiration from Sandy Nelson, who is probably an obscure or unknown to this generation of drummers.

His "Let There be Drums", included on this album, was probably the most popular of his work. Most of us who were beginning on drums back then had all of Nelson's albums, and the gems are compiled on this CD. There are some great 60s style rock tracks on this CD (with an awesome rendition of Summertime Blues) that provides excellent listening enjoyment for the nostalgic listener or anyone who appreciates music from that era.

By today's standards the drumming sounds obsolete, but for those of us who were influenced by Nelson this album is a nice trip down memory lane and an inspiration to grab sticks and play a few chops.
